It’s funny how a show like this, with its clear personal views on social issues, is still better and less obnoxious then the shows we have now. Lol.

I will always love how Matt Sykes stuck up for Georges daughter! I couldn't have done it better...

I loved this show from the get-go. I think they should have made more than 2 seasons. I know they base it from the Nielson ratings, but everyone ive talked to, plus all the positive reviews the show received, i think if they had continued with more seasons it would have gotten as popular as Star Trek. If it had been done by Star Treks creator it would still be going strong.

They didn't cancel it because it wasn't successful. You should do some research what happened that year to that TV channel it was on.

Hope it will never happen. Gary Graham was Matt and Eric Pierpoint George. Don't want to see anyone else as these characters.

You've got to be taught to hate and fear You've got to be taught from year to year It's got to be drummed in your dear little ear You've got to be carefully taught You've got to be taught to be afraid Of people whose eyes are oddly made And people whose skin is a diff'rent shade You've got to be carefully taught You've got to be taught before it's too late Before you are six or seven or eight To hate all the people your relatives hate You've got to be carefully taught Careful the things you say Children will listen Careful the things you do Children will see And learn Children may not obey But children will listen Children will look to you For which way to turn To learn what to be Careful before you say, listen to me Children will listen

One of the best speeches ever by Sykes outside the school. Racial and colour prejudice is an evil invention.

What? The locals discriminating a new peoples? Naw never that could never happen right? I really think humanity and its tribal mentality will by nature discriminate against what it doesnt know, its easier to hate than to understand and get to know new people, if its not race them it will be religion if its not that then color or beliets. Humans will always have that mentality us vs them, ohhhh but dont dicriminate them ohhhhh noooo.

There was a lot covered in this show and it wasn’t done like today’s times. For being a short lived show it did all agendas more tastefully. The fact they created a back story for their culture is amazing.Like Stargate and the history for it.

A smidge heavy-handed in places but given this pre-dates series like The Next Generation it's pretty progressive. As a member of the Transgender community, I can see a lot of unfortunate parallels between the adversity the Newcomers face in this and what a lot of us go through.

As an adult now I see the meanings and progressivism in the show for its time. They did it tastefully and I really enjoyed the show growing up as an adult have the whole collection and perfect example of how rights were being fought for before.

Here it is March 22, 2024. And our government has begun calling illegal aliens New Comers. We are being invaded... At least the New Comers in this show have many redeeming qualities and don't expect everything for nothing!
