Remember he's not singing karaoke here. He's covering a song and if you do that well then you make it your own. A phenomenal job here with the arrangement and the performance. "Early in his career" Can be a rather subjective statement. He not only began formal training at 5 years old but he's been performing since not too long after that all the way through his teens. This show in 2017 when he was 22 years old marks the beginning of his international recognition.

Dimash has always admired Freddie Mercury. What he did with this cover is admirable. It takes a lot of courage to do a Queen cover in a competition. He didn't try to imitate him, he kept the very essence of this song and added a bit of himself into it. He understood very well what that song represented for Freedy and he put all the necessary emotion into it.
