New subscriber here and a very timely video! I'm helping an aging parent and am considering moving to Italy after my responsibilities are finished. Your narrative addressed two issues that concern me; how to live overseas without getting residency (and the resulting taxation) and transportation without being able to own a car. I was considering three month intervals between Italy and a neighboring country such as Greece in two inexpensive houses. I think I will eventually need a car in Italy and hope that a creative solution can be found because a rental would be expensive. Interesting stuff!

Your second house must be outside the Schengen area or it counts as part of your 3 months.

How fun! I'm excited for you. I can relate to the list creations, as I'm very much a list person! (Don't tell anyone, but even though I don't know when I'll be able to move to Italy, I already have lists of things I'm going to bring versus leave here in the US.) 🙃

I know I’m late watching this video but I just found your channel. I bought a house in Calabria in a historic area, walk to beach. Renovating now. Plan to rent it out as well. Would be interested in talking further. I am returning in April 😊

Exciting! We are working on selling our house in Nicaragua to do the same. What are your thoughts on Montenegro, Albania, Greece besides UK?

Greece is in the Schengen so that one is out. I need to be out of the Schengen counties or it counts against my days in Italy. Here is the list home-affairs.ec.europa.eu/system/files_en?file=2020-09/schengen_brochure_dr3111126_en.pdf I would like to explore farther but my dog will be with me once I move and it makes it harder to travel.

What beach towns are you looking to buy in....towns near mussomeli??still staying in the sicily area??... also does your sister have a home in Mussomeli? thanks...Connie 😊

Hi Connie! We are going to start with beach towns near Mussomeli but also explore around the island. In a year we will look at mainland Italy. This year we have enough on our plate with the rental, lemon house, and the secret project 😀 Lisa doesn’t have a house there right now. She is living in mine while she is still teaching and has summers off. Eventually the rental we have will be her own retirement house. Lemon house will be my brother’s retirement house.
