Wow-thanks for the great interview. Just found it performing a search for Stan. I have played “you tell me” on repeat all morning and now afternoon. What a sound. Donald Duck on bass. Incredible. I didn’t know that. I really admired him. Liked both HB bass players. Love Donald.

«You tell me» is my favorite song, and has some Stunning drumming by Stan Lynch. It’s like Stan Lynch and Jim Gorden in one 😎👍🏻

Another great interview, John. Like so many famous drummers you've interviewed in recent years, Stan Lynch comes across as being so humble. I appreciate the nostalgia of how those iconic records were created back then, with band members playing off of one another rather than as an isolated track recorded in Pro Tools. I'm very much looking forward to Part 2. By the way, was that a vintage Ludwig kit set up behind Stan?

Zane's book about Tom Petty presents an interesting take on the drumming performances on Damn the Torpedoes. Keltner seemed to be around a lot and played percussion. The HB were an unhappy bunch by 1979 for a whole number of reasons

I'm in the middle of the interview, but I had to hit pause so I could say,"Thanks, John, for this episode!" Stan is one of my all-time favorite drummers. He really made an impression on me when I saw him and the band performing on the Tomorrow Show with Tom Snyder in the early 80's. There's so much i can say but ultimately it comes down to Stan's feel. Like another of my favorites Charlie Watts, Stan plays for the song. So enough of my rambling just play the music and that'll tell you all you need to know about Stan's greatness. Thanks again John, incredible interview!

Another interesting interview. That band sounded very different when he was let go by Mr Petty. Ferrone is a phenomenal musician. Is tithe case that most bands sound different when drummers are replaced, the groove just sits different. Like Sorum in Guns n Roses or even Jordan in the Stones touring band. Not saying any is better or worse, just different in the pulse. As a bass player you feel it instantly when drummers change in bands.
