Looking forward for part 2! Perhaps add some coconut flakes in gin basket and/or column with packing? I never thought of adding some coconut milk! Good ideal! Thanks.

A benefit of having ready access to fresh pressed sugar cane juice and coconut water is to simply pour in the coconut water into the sugar cane juice to ferment. Also, adding pineapple juice/coconut water to the sugar cane juice to ferment together works well too. best is to dissolve coconut sugar into coconut water and then pour into the sugar cane juice. Living in the tropics where all of these resources are readily available and super cheap helps. Just ferment together and distill.

You've got me motivated to try my hand at coconut rum. Mine will be white, with no aging & going to try to pick up the coconut flavor/aroma by using (sort of) a gin basket.

Seems like dissolving sugar prior to molasses addition, while you can see it would insure that it is 🤷 or am I just over thinking this?
@stillworksandbrewing Жыл бұрын
you could do that

If your brew stops fermenting after several runs check ph and add water. I found mine kept stalling from ph being thrown off

Thanks for your videos Randy. A few things I'd do differently; #1 use rum yeast; #2 aerate the wash with an electric wisk; #3 flavor after distillation using Amoretti coconut flavoring and something to think about is that the coconut flakes will absorb a bit of alcohol which will decrease the yield. Cheers!
