I've been patiently waiting 2 weeks for part 2, and here I am 3 days late getting to watch it. Better late than never. C U Monday for part 3. I heard you mention butter to keep it from foaming up, those little bits of info is what puts you a step above the rest in my book. Great job , keep up the good work.

Randy, really look forward to your Monday videos. Have a question, why do you put the copper packing in the lower column half instead of the upper half?
@stillworksandbrewing Жыл бұрын
You know that is a great question and I don’t have a answer except that some time i use ceramic rings on top if I want extra reflux and I think it might help to hold down foam

Tip for checking anything hot use the back of your hand, use the palm and your hand contracts

Hey there Randy I love you work pretty awesome I was wondering was you using the column reflux ? Or does it strip the taste away when using it? Even with bubble plates
@stillworksandbrewing Жыл бұрын
no i was not and yes it would strip flavor
@rickfickes4954 Жыл бұрын
@@stillworksandbrewing thank you so far knock on wood I haven’t ruined a batch yet I was told to run the reflux just to load the plates then turn it completely after a half hour I don’t know if that’s a good idea or not what do you think sir
@highly-spirited Жыл бұрын
Nicely done, this is really starting to come together. Do you ever run your Still with a short column and without any Packing? Probably wouldn’t make much difference, but I’m wondering if the flavour profile would come through a little better. Keep up the good work. Enjoying ever video you make Randy!

Have you used coconut water instead?

Nice. I'm making another 40L of coconut/pineapple rhum and this time, I have 2L of pineapple juice and 4L of coconut water with 1kg of coconut sugar dissolved in the coconut water. Use C-70 Yeast. Takes longer to ferment than straight sugar cane juice, but the results are noticeable. Age it separately with Hungarian, French & Mizunara oak. The woods do make a difference. Mizunara takes a lot longer to age, but it is good.

Hey Randy, if you did stripping runs would you hold off on the coconut milk until the spirit run?
@cuanham4 ай бұрын
Hi Randy, I'm currently preparing a similar recipe and was wondering if it would be ok to save the remaining dunder from this batch, considering the added coconut milk, for a future run?

Yes, absolutely
