It took me about three and a half years to get an ADHD diagnosis on the NHS. I was supposed to then wait another year to start medication, but I was, thankfully, brought forward. It took another two years to settle on the right medication and dose. Still no help with coaching or practical support, so I'm going to have to pay for a coach. I'm not working, so it's going to be expensive. That on top of having to fund other healthcare because the NHS is so broken.

The waiting times are absolutely ridiculous! When I’ve been told the waiting time was 2 years I was shocked but I thought what can I do. I called 6 months later to check if anything changed and I’ve been told I’m looking at 4 years waiting time! It’s unacceptable. I decided to go down the Right to Choose path. It took 2 months for my GP to only re-issue the referral. Absolute madness. Now I’m looking at about 4 months wait, which is reasonable when compared to 4 years and they get you started on meds right away. But like you, I’m also worried about the “other” support beyond meds. I’ll deal with it when I get there I guess. But it’s not cheap… :-/ I hope meds helped you.
