If you're reading this, you're in the right place. Master the basic structures behind this and a few other essay videos, and ideas are the only thing you'd have to think about on test day. For the benefit of anyone reading this while practicing for an upcoming test, it works! I've never quite enjoyed writing letters or essays, and so wasn't too sure of myself. Surprisingly using Jay's methods, my final score was S: 8, L: 8.5, W: 8.5, R: 8.5. Overall = 8.5. Thank you so much Jay!

Can I not write (for the writing task) that "the statement is quite subjective and this entirely depends on the kind of the study course the student is planning on pursuing?" Like for example for a Clinical course such has a medical degree,nursing etc on campus is highly advisable whereas for non-clinical courses such as leadership in health, English etc opting for an online course is accepted and encouraged? And then later on elaborate on this? Is considering a topic/statement/opinion subjective something looked down upon? Will my marks be deducted?

I never gave much importance to my English speaking to improve my vocabulary through out my career. The moment when I decide to take IELTS and gave some practice tests from IELTS official site, then I did self evaluation and realized that its so easy. Hi Jay! First and foremost, I want to thank you for the tutorial videos you have uploaded here. I first took my Academic IELTS under IDP on Feb. of 2017, to which I got a 7+ score in all bands except for writing, wherein I only got 6. Seeing all of your videos on writing task 1 and 2 gave me a boost on how to attack the writing task, which for me, is the most difficult part. Upon practicing and having repeatedly watching your videos for guidance, I took up the UKVI Academic IELTS under British Council here in the Philippines on 20th of October. I just got my results yesterday which really made my day! Here were my scores. L: 8.5, R: 8.0, S: 7.0, W: 7.0 . It was surreal at first upon seeing my results online and I even had doubts especially on the speaking and writing part of the exam to which I thought I will only get 6.5. But thanks God (I got through it with immense prayers) and to you of course! I got the desired results I need! One thing that really made me think I got a 7 in writing was the usage of different types of sentences. Jay has a video about it and I think I used about 5 types of it. @@1989samir hey buddy! I followed the technique he's spoken about in the video. Honestly, I also feel it's more about how you approach the entire essay. I could go as far as saying that it COULD be okay to even skip the third sentence. I urge you to spend the first 5 minutes jotting down pointers for your essay. Do not begin writing immediately. A mistake candidates make frequently. Let your first paragraph talk about the advantages of your the topic, the second paragraph about it's disadvantages and conclusion in the third. Also watch Jay's video where he talks about sentence formation and grammer, which is of paramount importance. And that will help you score higher. Happy to help! :)

Moiz Dohadwala hey thanks so much for the quick reply and for wonderful advice there. Yes i do spend some time planning before starting writing n i always start with T2. I have appeared in ielts 3 times (GT), first time i got 7 in W (but did poor on L) then dropped to 6 then 6.5 on my last one. I need 8 ideally, otherwise 7 at the least. May b i sud follow this intro structure the next time (dunno when yet) i sit my exam and unlike other times, this time will be Computer based too - which is super time efficient for me i believe. @@1989samir 7's a pretty good score too! Like I said, watch the video on sentence formation. It helps you score better. There are roughly 5-6 types of sentences and using them really helps. Good luck for your exam!

Although I abstain using the phrase "this essay will ....", in my opinion you can use the phrase "this essay will ......", Now, if you want to rewrite it not using the phrase you can do so. I would typically rewrite it as : There are several underlying reasons for this emerging trend, the reasons and possible solutions for which will be discussed in the following paragraphs.
