I had a '99 323iS coupe with the M52B25 motor back in college.. straight-piped it after the CAI mod and goddamn... the SOUND! 0:09-0:11, that exact bellowing, monstrocity of a sound I will never forget! Sounds EXACT! Mad respect for your E36, always will have a special place in my heart

+Franky Leandri Actually we (the US) was lucky to even get an M3 version. But of course they detuned it to meet emission standards. Pretty much a 328i overboard and tune with 50 more ponies. Only single TB rather that ITB the Euro spec one got.

Very nice, I've never seen a uspec s50 built up like that screams like a euroS50 or S54. You said what most of us bmw guys are saying now, the new bmws are in short boring. I miss the high revving nature of bmw's NA motors.

But maybe my kin do not know much about their own cars? especially since I studied and worked in Bavaria twenty minutes from Münich, the Bavarians must have no idea. so how am I ignorant? and I grew up in the states. I never said the usspec M3 wasn't good, its just not a real M car like the e36M3 euro. The usS52 is a glorified M52.The 50B32 has more in common with the S54B32 from the e46 m3. different Head design, taller block for longer rods/better rod ratio, heavier crank to take more vibrations/higher RPM, plus a myriad of other differences make the S50B32 engine much more powerful. The S50B32 had fully variable cam timing on both intake and exhaust cams, so it makes better torque everywhere. It has 50mm throttles, large equal-length headers, big valves, relatively big cams, etc, but that variable cam timing Vanos, keeps it from being like the older E30 M3 and E28/E34 M5 engines.

Jeez my m3 is a euro spec , got a gt turbo on it , k2 coilovers , purple tag steering rack , custom manifolds , chipped and puts out 550 at the wheels , Still not even done with it , but I suppose yours is naturally aspirated so to make 300 at the wheels ain't bad at alll , from one guy who loves e36's to another , fair play to you sir

***** S50 is a little cooler since it is a one year deal in the US. I could have done this to an S52 and made slightly more HP and definitely more torque but I just wanted to be somewhat unique with the engine choice I guess.

Every time I hear the statement of people knocking BMW for going to turbos I think "They must not know that BMW was one of the first turbo cars out there with the BMW 2002 tii turbo. They went away from turbos now back to turbos. But I understand as I like non turbos myself. I own a E36 M3 and the V8 E92 M3....both are great cars

Dodge may produce more, not really the topic of who produces more but people knocking BMW for going to turbos. They have been making them for a long time, just not used really until recently. A lot of 80's-90's cars used turbos during the crappy car era of econo boxes being produced. So it doesn't surprise me one bit Dodge has produced a shit ton of turbos

There are perks of using a base 325 to convert to M3, I think the insurance is cheaper for a 325i. Anyhow beauty of a car, nice work. I've never seen you around town as I'm around the GVA with an Arctic Silver E36. Do you guys sell ATE 200 brake fluid? My luck is the best, my winter beater 318is Turbo has the same rims, same lip and somehow I manage to swap my original BBS rims for a OS Giken LSD, I'm now considering to spend a few grand on the engine, flow prepp it and put forged internals in it, Diesel gearbox and a solid drivetrain, if I run low boost it's never going to brake! Probably going to become a "summer beater" aswell :P 400 horse on the dry will probably rip!
