I also bought E36 compact in the end of 2023. Paid 1800€. Brought to my garage from 300km and haven't moved it since. It's in great shape, brownish/red all leather interior, silver gray (?) paint, 1.9L engine, auto transmission. I haven't seen any rust. But technically it needs maintenance. Filters, oil, coolant, power steering fluid change (steering is a bit heavy). Now weather is warmer and I will slowly start doing stuff. I want to drive this baby, it's a beast, it has automatic transmission but with 1.9 engine it's very active. I was surprised how quickly it moves from 0. I'm not Street racer but I just love the energy

Sounds like a great example and you're in quite a similar position to me. This one needs a good recommissioning then it will be thoroughly enjoyed. The 1.9 engine is very characterful, really fun to drive around.

Great video,what a coincidence I was looking into put E36 adjustor motor into E30 head light and get rid of old hydraulic stuff which never works.. only difference is ball end on shaft is bit thicker than E30 .if u have spare white insert can you check if it will fit into E30 head light..very informative video thanks

I did the same job in 2019 on my first compact, and in few weeks I'm gonna do the same on the new compact project. I have used the ones like the 2nd ebay link, and they were for a e39. Too bad I didn't have my yt channel at the time to film it all and make a tutorial, but gonna do a video on this one for sure! Otherwise, got some interesting compact restauration videos on my channel, and if you are interested take a look at the videos and leave a comment if you like them or know a better way of doing things. IIRC the Compact headlights are different from all the other E36 headlights, they use other bulbs and go apart differently. I was really confused when trying to take apart my 'new' projector headlights. And did I spot a Cybox stainless catback exhaust?

Pro tip - Don't use any soap or water to clean the reflectors, cuz it WILL wipe the chrome off! Don't know what kind of paint did they use, but it dissolves with water. The same is on e46 and volvo s60, so probably the same thing on all headlights. Dry microfiber towel will do just fine to take the dust off.
