I replaced my engine mounts with oem. Made a big difference in engine vibration. If anyone sees this video and decides to lift the engine from the oil pan make sure you disconnect the air intake system from the engine. I tore my air intake boot. Also remove the alternator air intake as well. Maybe lifting from the top like the OP did works better but that's what I learned. Great video. Highly recommend doing the mounts on these older cars.

Decided to replace my 19 year old mounts today before I put my new clutch and rebuilt Getrag 6-speed tranny back in my 'vert. This was a great video--I made use of your tips on doing the D/S first and the the P/S and for keeping the bolts loose on the side not being worked on to keep the engine aligned. Tricks like this based on lessons learned are what make your videos so helpful. Thanks, man! PS. Love the LEGO analog to explain the motor mount concept to newbies. Very cool.

Followed this video and it Helped a lot. Did the AKG Motorsport mounts today and two things that helped me.. -Installing the mount top threaded end first, then bottom threaded end through the hole on the cross member. the AKG mounts i had have longer threaded bolt on the top so easier to get them in that way. - laying underneath behind the wheel, use a flashlight and look up at crossmember and just barely see the mount's alignment nipple poking through to verify it's aligned properly. Thanks for the video.

If you want a cheaper OEM replacement for E36s, I mean I dunno where you are but in the UK 36 mounts are crazy money each, but E34 mounts also fit. And they're waaay cheaper.

Great video man. Followed the steps in the video and they were dead on. Ironically, the passenger side took me longer, just couldn't get the engine high enough. Needed to lift the engine 1/4" more, and couldn't do it. Used a dremel and cut the top stud. After that, everything came together. Thank you.

Legos! You mean a cherry picker 😁🍒 I'm going solid for my mounts. My e46 parts car came with two new trans mounts in the box, gonna see if they'll fit my e36. Both manual 98 e36 vs 99 e46. Thank the lord I came to the e36 church! Try doing this on an SHO genI, II, & III. You do a great job of walking thru the difficulties one may encounter and not make yourself look like a know it all. Hey man! This is a great video, do you think it's possible to do the oil pan gasket by unbolting the engine mounts like this and somehow holding the engine up? Would there be enough room to pull the oil pan without dropping the subframe and steering rack? Would love if you made a oil gasket video. Thanks for all your help!

If you want to replace the pan gasket with the motor in the car, you need to completely remove the subframe, otherwise the motor needs to be removed

Does it save any time to do the transmission mounts at the same time? Or do you have to jack up the transmission in a different spot to get to the trans mounts?

I replaced my motor mounts and trans mount with oem parts. My e36 m3 is still vibrating with new mounts. I feel it alot between 40-60 miles and then smoothes out at over 80. The shifter also vibrates during those speeds. Could it be the drive shaft? The flex disc still looks new. Any suggestions would help. Thank you

it could be a combination of the flex disc and center support bearing. is it vibrating at idle? I had bad transmission mounts and the thing shook like hell at idle and off idle. if it vibrates at idle its a mount. I would replace the trans mounts honestly and go from there.

My powersteering rack looks the same as yours #E36Life. I've been meaning to replace my engine mounts (already bought them months ago) so I'm glad you made the video. I went with the factory rubber ones because I was worried about obnoxious engine vibration. I have polymounts all over throughout the suspension, but I was worried about using them for the engine. How's the vibration on your mounts? Also, I noticed the watermark on your videos lately. Nice touch.

He replaces mounts that look like those he is installing.(before poly...big fan bro) THOSE ARE NOT THE RIGHT MOUNTS FOR THE VERT. The vert mounts are smaller with metal on top and bottom. Websites that have them are $$$-- but URO DOESN"T LIST them as COMPATIBLE according to part no. So it doesn't come up.
