E36 M3 Rear Suspension Installation - Part 1

Part of the upgrade that I had planned for the E36 328i project car was to swap in an E36 M3 rear suspension including the sub-frame, trailing arms, axles, and differential. The upgrade here is all durability and performance oriented.
In this video I show you how to safely remove the rear subframe as a whole assembly and get the new one installed into place. It's definitely awkward to do but it is doable solo.

Did you reinforce the subframe mounting points prior to this? Or is that still something you plan on doing down the line?

Thank you for posting this video Gareth. I need to replace the bushings in the rear of my 99 e36 M3 and was wondering how I would pre-load the control arm bushings and be able to torque them correctly -- now I know. I assume a similiar pre-load will be required for the LCA bushings. I'll be working with jack stands and on my back just like you -- so it's nice to know that can be done. Thanks again.

Sorry for the late reply. Didn't see the comment until now. Yeah, process is identical for the lower control arm but fortunately you have much better access to those fasteners then the uppers.
