E39 Touring Rescue. Wow. I love it. I have a 1999 E39 528i Touring in vermillion (red) tan interior. It looks amazing except for the driver's seat. It has won a few shows in the past. It has 262,000 milf and drives strong, fast smooth and quiet, averaging 24 mpg. I have owned it for 21 years. I bought it with 80,000 miles on it in Florida. It likes to go on long trips. It is garage kept. Does not burn oil or smoke or leak anything. It sounds the same as when I bought it. I care for it but don't baby it. It acts like it could go at least another ten years. It will.

Hi Zeitt. Nice E39 wagon. They are popular here in Australia. Finally sold your X5 and glad you were able to record all the maintenance and repairs for everyone to catch up and use it as a guide. It’s actually the intake solenoid that I was enquiring and not the Vanos itself. Thanks for the vanos rebuit kit info.

i wanted to get your opinion on some upgrades for the older e39s that might add value to them. in the 2000 and earlier ones. Im talking changing tail lights, to upgrading to led interior lights to the radio etc etc

The early m52 cars (single vanos) are not great to be frank. I’m not sure there are real ways to add value that is going to net profit if that’s what you mean. Paint correction, detailing and up to date maintenance goes a long way. Hope it helps!

Very nice car! I really like my E39 Touring, but it arrived with a head gasket exhaust leak (got ripped off by NC used car dealer). It is now an intown car only.
