Just finished building the Beta and this releases. What would you prioritize updating between the beta build and this one? Is there a significant advantage between the beta top frame/motion system and this new one?
@dr-fish-arms4 ай бұрын
I'm pretty close to finishing my beta too. v1.2 looks awesome. I've been wondering if it will be simple to update one area of the printer at a time, or if it will require a complete rebuild.
@ididntdoanythingwrong34514 ай бұрын
@@dr-fish-arms Yeah I was looking at the motion parts and it no longer touches the endstop but then I also see the Y endstop as a separate printed part which probably means that the rear corners might need to be updated and if we're doing that, the front corners and the new belt tensioners need to also be updated to match the new belt dimensions. That sounds like a full rework and I was hoping that maybe I can do a bizzarro mini beta/offical build until I have all the information. Edit: I'm stupid. Beta build is almost entirely compatible with the new release. Toolhead can be a separate update. Bed arms can be a separate update. Y motion system with new tension system at the front has to be an entire update.
@RH3D_cz4 ай бұрын
@@ididntdoanythingwrong3451 I know it might be painfull building the beta and then this comes out. There are definitely more people, but that's a thing hard/impossible to completely avoid. For the beta vs v1.2 compatibility. I have been making it as compatible as possible, so basically any separate parts/assemblies can be updated individually, the belth path is basically the same even though we have different belt tensioners. That means you can update individually parts like: toolhead, Y gantry blocks with Y endstop, belt tensioners with the front corner pieces, bed carriage arms, each bottom frame corner. The most involved change would probably be the AB stepper mounts, because they have been moved back a bit to the electronics compartment which means I had to remake the rear panel and the top of the electronics cover as well, so these should be upgraded together. Feel free to ask further questions if needed :).
@RH3D_cz4 ай бұрын
@@dr-fish-arms Thanks! Have a look at the answer for @ididnothingwrong3451. It is pretty simple to update the parts separately and you don't need to do a complete rebuild.
@RH3D_cz4 ай бұрын
Also about the prioritizing, If you finished the beta, I would probably be using that for a moment and see for yourself if you would like to upgrade something. The biggest changes are the toolhead which I think is worth it. Y gantry blocks are lighter but if your beta ones are working fine, there is no other significant improvement. Front AB belt tensioners are nicer to work with and with the F695 they should be more precise as the printed 40T idler from beta might not be as perfect. Also it leaves more room for the toolhead if you would decide to upgrade to 4020 or 5015 fans. Upgrading the AB stepper mounts with the rear panel is nice if you really want to push the speeds and even more if you enclose the printer, because it keeps the steppers cooler and it is simple to add cooling to them. New frame options and the bed carriage with the replaceable flexi inserts are also nice upgrade... Well, that was almost all the printer, right :D.. As I said, I think the best option would really be to use the printer and see yourself if you'd like some of the things to be upgraded or the beta version of it is good enough for you.

I didn't need the high temp but the cost was only a small amount more than the standard V2S version. So I would love to see this project support the V3.0 board. The H2 Hotend shouldn't be hard to adapt to this design. This project makes me excited of using this as a base for a high temp enclosure printer for the high end engineering materials. I want to build something like this but concerned about the lack of extrusions at the front vertically and horizontally is there a mod for that? I would rather use 2020 extrusions for stability
@RH3D_cz4 ай бұрын
If you look at the website (you can even see it on the black-green printer in the video), you will see there are 3 options to build the frame and one of them has front vertical 2040 extrusions (you could easily use 2020 instead). There was a simple addon/mod for the top vertical extrusion for the beta version and there is definitely some mod from users as well and it will work on the v1.2. Also if you would be enclosing the printer, the new enclosure is designed so the door panel locks in when it is closed (recommended thickness 5mm) so basically all the front of the printer is stiffened up even more. I have been testing the v1.2 quite a lot prior to the release and also doing comparisons with and without front vertical extrusion and the input shaper graph was basically the same. Though that was on the "ultimate" frame version, the printed version might have some difference. So because of that, I decided not to add the front horizontal extrusion even as an option and just put more attention to the frame squaring and alignment instructions once it is ready, because that is what makes the biggest difference.

That's great! All the linear shafts are solid. The 8mm used is not so stiff that I would want to weaken it even more. The weight savings are not so big that it would be worth it. Only if i switched for 10mm or 12mm diameter, then it would make more sense.

Marlin has theoretically the same capabalities.

Will it be possible for the Ender 3V3 KE ? And can we increase the bed size at the same time?

@RH3D_czАй бұрын
Hi! The build instructions have been released a month ago, you can find them on the website. Also Bondtech BMG with nema 14 - don't you mean nema 17? I would recommend rebuilding the BMG into sherpa or other printers that use the internals from BMG but are much lighter and have better mounting on the toolhead.

What slicer is everyone using for this? Anyone using prusa slicer for it?
@crypton17823 ай бұрын
Hi there, while I don't have a E3NG v1.2 coreXY printer I am curious why you are asking what slicer to use with it since as far as I see that's irrelevant here since there is no multi color or multi toolhead setup on this printer which some slicers can't do, right? So you should be free to use any slicer you want as far as I'm concerned.

Orca Slicer. Came from Cura to Orca and never want back :)
@crypton17823 ай бұрын
@@christianmontagx8461 Hi there, have you ever tried prusa slicer? It has a really cool feature where you don't set the speeds for the parts yourself but only a max flow rate and the software determines speeds from this. Makes for really smooth prints in my experience. Switched from cura to prusa and while I think cura has better bridge settings I can't go back to setting up speeds for everything myself lol. Plus the paint in support feature and paint in seam feature is also really nice to have in prusa :D Would be interested to hear back from you if orca provides similar features today because as of their release it didn't.

It should be, I have been looking into that with the beta version and didn't find significant issues, the main difference were closed extrusions which you could still get to work with proper orientation and maybe few drilled holes (might do without them)

Is it the board with the already mounted TMC Drivers? If you want automatic build plate tilt you need 3 z-drivers, 1 x and 1 y and 1 driver for extruder (=6 Stepper Drivers).

Currently there is only one official kit from Funssor - hardware kit, electronics and motion and enclosure kit so basically everything you need for the rebuild with the recommended configuration. Build guide is already available too and everything can be found on the website (build guide directly there and links to kits in the Configurator/BOM). More kits should be coming in the future but the preparations, testing, optimisations just take some time. Feel free to ask anything if you have questions.

@@alexforget I did a lot of research through the community during the design process and the possible options are pretty welcome, I wouldn't agree that 80% builds are the simple/cheap but on the other hand, it would be a lot simpler having just one or two options overall and if I manage to work on other projects, it will definitely be that way. Will also help me save a lot of time in the design process :).

To give an advise as an developer: Don't try to make many solutions that fits all. Your project is to small to get so many solutions up and maintained. Make the solution that fits your need. Make documentation (your project site is litteraly empty ("Under construction") that doesn't make appetite to read further). Talk about it. Try to get help. Reuse other projects and mention them. E.g. don't try to build your own toolhead ecosystem when there are plenty open source systems available (EVA-Awesome rails bases system;if you insist of the old steel pipe based linear motion system maybe Hypercube Evo Ngen is a possbile choice). Clean up your promiscuously Z-axis. I see a mixed up monstrosity influenced by VzBot (tripple Z-axis, Anti-wobble fixture), Creality (adjustment wheels) and Hypercube (steel pipes) that doesn't fit together. If you want to use a trippel Z-axis with anti-wobble it is important to use rails. Pipes make no sense, as the fixture needs a fixed point that pipes can't provide (pipes are joints@z-axis). Good luck!

In a certain way I totally agree with you, having one or two options for the build brings many advantages, is simpler for users and gets the result faster as you don't have to work on so many things. The project even started much simpler with the beta version. On the other hand, since the beta release, I have been closely listening to users and the feedback from community and did few researches during the v1.2 development to know the demand and I think many people appreciate it. Some options are leftovers from the beta version though just improved and I was even thinking about cleaning it up and offering fewer options many times but left it as is for now. If I manage to bring my other projects to the public though, they will definitely be much simpler with less if any options, it just wouldn't be possible to maintain it all alive while keeping the quality good just as you said. Also this being my first project of this size, I myself see a lot of imperfections now and I have learned a lot, but fixing and completely reworking them would still be kind of a band-aid fix and the project being already quite spread out, I wanted to keep within the beta version boundaries. If I would do it now again (or maybe a v2), it would be completely different from the ground up and way better. Thanks for your feedback, I appreciate it!
