Any of these exercises i should specifically focus on to go back play 2v2 beach volleyball? I first reinjured my soleus, went back 2 weeks after....reinjured....now my gastric popped (felt like someone kicked me). Grade 1 or 2 i would say. It was 2 weeks ago. My PT is not this comprehensive as you, just gave me some of those exercises but not a plan

Pretty much all of the calf-specific exercises are important to prepare the calf for the jumping and landing required in volleyball.

Same here mate. Started running about 6 months ago (from about 7-8 years off) was slowly building up and steadily running 4-5 miles 4x’s per week. Felt great last week and decided to go for a 8 mile run. Run felt fine. Two days later went for a 4 miler and around 3 miles in got a horrible tightness/ cramp on the lower our portion of my calf. After warm hi g this video seems like the soleous. Nonetheless. I started some of these exercises and already feel better. Here’s to hoping to get back into running soon.

I strained my Gastro last night. I wish I could say I was sprinting away from a bear while holding my newborn in my arms, but I was jumping around with my 3 year old in the living room. I started running for the first time in a while, 3 days before, so I think it was just overworked. Great video. Hoping for a speedy recovery.

This is by far the best video I've seen on calf strain recovery. I've had problems with my calves for years but I see now I am not rehabbing them in a consistent and continuous manner. Most people say just do calf raises. This gives a variety of exercises and levels of progression to improve and a guideline of when it's okay to start running again. Awesome video, thank you!

For anyone asking how well this video works: I'd say it works 1000% I used to be a track and field and cross country runner in highschool, but didn't play any sports for about 7-8 years of my life after highschool. Fast forward to that time, I was at 207 pounds (the heaviest i've ever been) When I decided to get fit again, i'd always feel calf pains from running, and hit a wall so i'd stop doing excercises altogether and wouldn't know what to do. I got down to about 176 pounds. However, after seeing this video it was the answer I was looking for, for years. It was a slow, steady climb, but after getting the right shoes, dieting right, and extra stretching a bit for about 5 minutes, i'm back to feeling better than ever. I didn't know if I was making any true progress because I kept seeing if the pain was still there, but after a lot of patience and following this video, i'm finally recovered and even stronger than before. This morning, I weighed in at 158.4 pounds, the lightest i've been in YEARS. Thank you so much for the video, it really has changed my life, and I can finally continue to lose weight.

I've been doing PT for six weeks following a gastroc/soleus injury. It's been going as expected, and I was just thinking "two more weeks and I'll be back." Then, when I saw this video, I realized that, at the very best, I am still on Step One of this rehsp program! . Holy crap! Based on what I see here, it'll be a whole gd YEAR before I'm at his "Level 4" point in rehab! That is just so discouraging to me.

Thank you very much for sharing this video. It is incredibly comprehensive and has the potential to benefit numerous individuals in their journey to gradually strengthen their muscles and recover from injuries. I recently began running last year and increased my training volume significantly this year. Unfortunately, due to this sudden increase, I encountered an issue with my left soleus muscle, which prevented me from continuing my running or even hopping on that leg. However, I was still able to hop on both legs without any issues. After more than a month, I have experienced gradual improvement, and I recently completed a 5k run at our local Parkrun. To aid in the strengthening of my calf muscles, particularly the soleus muscle, I have been diligently performing the exercises you outlined. Additionally, I have found that using a foam roller has been beneficial in releasing any knots or tightness in the area.

Awesome summary of a calf strain injury. You nailed the reason my injury happened. I am a 63 year old male who just recently started playing pickleball. The strain occurred playing pickleball, the tear or rupture occurred the next day on hilly trail hike going up a steep hill. My calf strain, after 3 weeks, has started to improve, and I began to question when could I return to playing Pickleball. Your tests tell me I am still a long way from returning. Thank you for showing me that! I will now begin your rehab exercises. Any further advice would be greatly appreciated. I did just subscribed to your channel and I plan on sharing your channel
