For those who haven't seen the full episode please read: When planning the wedding with best man, he said that he knows she hates beer but he was going to base it around beer anyway. He sent her to a brewery for her hen do eventhough he knows she hates beer, she walked out of the hen do on the verge of tears. He was told that she was upset about the hen do but proceeded to make the wedding about beer. He sent a beer maiden outfit to wear as a wedding dress the day before the wedding, she absolutely hated it and took it as a sign that he was treating the wedding as a joke. She was in tears and called the wedding off. He then got her another dress to persuade her to come and promised her that he has thought about her in the wedding ceremony. So she agreed to come thinking that the wedding wasn't about beer, and that because he replaced the dress that he was serious and did care about their marriage. When she arrived at the wedding she found out that the wedding was at the same beer brewery she had went to for the hen do, and that the wedding was about beer again! He proceeded with the wedding and didn't change a thing, eventhough he KNEW she was upset about beer being used as a focal point. He is a selfish jerk and deserved the reaction he got from her.

MUSIC LOVER weddings are traditionally paid for by the brides family. Tradition expects A LOT of a bride (with cultural variations). A dress, something old, something borrowed, etc. Men are required to show up. It not considered very masculine to want to shine on such a feminine day. Few men dream of their wedding their whole lives. If you don’t want to give someone u love something so important to them bc you decided a year ago it would be “cool” then maybe you don’t love them at all.

Tucna It is very clear you have not watched the episode. She looks bad because she has been crying. Just because a few, other, unknown women made their weddings all about themselves doesn’t mean that she has to accept her man doing that. Usually men don’t care about the small details on the day anyway, so that’s why weddings tend to be based on the brides vision. But if something is important to either party it should be done on the day as far as possible. Also women who act spoiled and make the day difficult are called bridezillers for a reason. It’s not meant to be a complement. You don’t know why they go on tv. Maybe because the wedding gets paid for? Weddings are expensive. The girl on this episode wanted a small outdoor minimalist ceremony with close friends and a few fairy lights. Not sure how that amounts to a show off wedding. I’m sure she never expected perfection but thought after eight years her partner might get it half right. Still don’t get your comparison with kids. Most people consider the birth of their kids as more important than their wedding, but that doesn’t make the wedding day non important. I feel like you are totally missing the point. It was not simply about the venue and the dress not being perfect. It was about his lack of consideration for her. Anyone with any self respect would not have married him either - but each to their own.

I felt a bit sorry for this guy at first (especially the honey part, he looked heartbroken) but I'm glad I read other comments, as I tracked down the full episode and he was a totally selfish asshole from start to finish. He ignored several instances he was being told she was majorly unhappy, and was actually rude and dismissive of her (calling her selfish and spoiled) throughout. He even insulted the bridesmaids when they tried to tell him she wouldn't like it. His American friend was a horrible tool too and, instead of remaining calm and neutrally supportive, actually made it worse by goading the groom into thinking the bride was selfish.

i suspect there may be something in the contract where they have to pay back all the money if they don't go through with it and most of the couples can't afford to do that. there was one where the groom was clearly a gambling addict and planned the whole wedding in vegas while he was on a 9-day bender with his bestie. she went through with the ceremony despite being devastated and threatening to call it off the day before, but they ended up divorced anyway.

I just watched this episode for the first time and it was such a rollercoaster. The purpose of this show is that the weddings are meant to be stupid and jokey. That's one thing, but purposely basing your fiancée's biggest day around something that you know she'll hate, that's something else entirely. He was trying to embarrass her from start to finish. I was shouting at the TV when it looked like she was going through it. If you're having that many doubts about the person you're meant to love, questioning whether or not you should even turn up to your own wedding, questioning whether your fiancé even knows you after eight years and not even wanting to LOOK at him on your wedding day; then you need to listen to your gut instincts. If you're really meant to be, you wouldn't have those doubts at all. As sad as this episode was, I was relieved that they didn't make the marriage legal, and I'd be surprised if they worked things out. They would have divorced sooner or later anyway. Also, that guy was the most irritating best man I've ever seen, and her blue flowery dress was gorgeous and way better than the cheap wedding dress he got her.

The traditional dirndl is actually a beautiful costume, but a real one - well made and good quality - is very expensive and this cheapskate preferred to spend all the money on his stag do.

She even appreciated the dress simply because it wasn't the other one; some brides would want their dress perfect-she was just happy as she said not to be in the fancy dress one. He made the whole thing about him, and he didn't seem that sorry as he turned it on her and said it was due to her wanting it perfect; she just wanted something for her. He made out she was really fussy when she was simply stating nothing was for her, and she was right. The best man had no empathy for her either. Every mistake they made was somehow her fault. Eurgh. Getting a bit sick of the "men have had to put up with women controlling the day" stuff. I know a LOT of married couples and not one of those couples had the woman control everything. In fact most of them were decided upon by the men and the only thing the women had final say on were the bridesmaid dresses and the wedding dress. The men were involved with the where, the who and the when and all chose their own suits etc. Utter bollocks to say women do everything all the time. You might know one or two couples where the bloke just really didn't care so the woman took over but overall couples do it together

I feel sorry for her, because he clearly didn't think about what she would like at all. I'm actually also getting married at a brewery next year though I originally wanted a princess castle wedding, but in our case we agreed on it together after going through the pros and cons of the different locations. And I'm excited about my brewery wedding because that specific place is very pretty and we'll still make it an elegant affair with a bit of a twist instead of turning it into a ridiculous show like here.

There has just been an episode on tv here where the groom and his mates went to Benidorm for the stag do and 'organised' the hen do at an assault course without telling any of the girls they'd need a change of clothes afterwards. The reception was in a cattle market building. Frankly I'm amazed that more women don't just walk away....or run away even.

Well vineyards are different, they are beautiful and romantic but a grubby brewery on an industrial estate is something else. The pig onesies were brilliant not only were they too big they were also see through - what more can a girl ask for ! Tbh I'm surprised that the groom had some sense to put some flooring down so she was lucky in that respect.

She did it out of spite which is nothing in comparison to what a shit show he put together. I just feel like if you decide to go through with it might as well make things less uncomfortable for yourself, let the wrong doings go for just a moment and cheer each other up before exchanging rings. He seems upset with himself (again, doesnt excuse his awful planning). She didnt do anything wrong but she lacks in the emotional control department. What a childish way to break up, if that's the case. Not calling her an angel, but if the only way you (as a grown adult) can communicate to your partner that you're unhappy is by humiliating her, and playing with her emotions then no offence but he's just as bad, if not WORSE.
