Thank you for informative video. I found a peculiar way one of the wires is rotted in my roof. I know it has been previously worked on. So far I can’t figure out how to get to it and fix the worn sheathing… I don’t think I can post a picture here.

Does the convertible motor need the instrument cluster in the dash to work in order to operate? I am not getting any power to the Convertible motor, just a solid red light for up or down.

The instrument cluster is the controlling unit for the K bus, which is the comms systems for much of the car. If the instrument cluster isn't working at all then the K bus won't work and so the convertible module can't communicate with other units, which is essential to make it work.

@jeffrichardsoncardiy so that makes sense as to why the top won't work. Also I haven't noticed anything else that isn't working. Anything else I need to check that the instrument cluster controls?

@@Tx03edge It should only affect things that need comms with other units. There aren't many other than the diagnostics as most units work independently and aren't looking for messages from other units to be able to operate. The CVM is a bit unusual as it needs to get a lot of info from the general module about windows, boot open, etc.

@jeffrichardsoncardiy so it sounds like once I get the cluster repaired, it should work again?

@@Tx03edge I would think so, but getting it working correctly is essential prior to diagnosing the roof if required.
