OK, so I did so before reading this comment... the spring did pop out the shock mount out a tiny bit, it didn't fly out and was not dangerous. Did I just get lucky?

This is helpful information seeing as how the improper geometry could lead to wear issues on tires, as well as suspension components due to the " Ackermann effect " where the inside wheel is always turning faster in turns. With a lowered and cambered car this effect has a greater effect on components due to stresses.

Thanks for the great video. In my case our M3 took a terrible hit. Not to the hood, but pass side wheel. The skid plate saved the day .. but still some damage Both control arms bent big time. I installed a new set. The frame shows no signs of damage except fender (It took a "glace" o pass side bad enough to bust a couple of spot welds and also the bolt down tab on the DRIVER SIDE stiffiner .. Pushed from the glance on passenger side). After all that, The new control arms went right in. But I do have a camber issue on driver side. I could find no obvious way to adjust Camber. I may buy a set of your great 3rd party plates. But how does BME do it? Why can't I see any way to do so? Tks so much.

I like the content you put out. As a certified technician I gotta say that you should not be giving advice on wheel alignments. Tires get worn by excessive camber or toes or both. It can be either positive or negative. If is beyond spec it will prematurely wear the tires. The reality is that if a bushing is worn on a control arm it makes any other predictions useless. So how much setback a front wheel has is a bad way to tell if you have too much or not enough caster. Best thing to do is have it aligned professionally and not make assumptions. Cheers.

Hey Bimmer dude, great video, I just got a set of BC coilovers, are these caster/camber plates still in use in our car?ç Have they worked fine after 2 years of use? I need to buy a set of these plates or similar..... but I want to know if they have lasted and if they are safe............ I have not been able to correct the camber correctly sin it affects the caster by not having how to move the strut where it needs t be, the BC that came with the coiler set can not be adjusted correctly,,,,,,,,

Hello, will these camber/caster plates work on kw v2 coilovers? Also, I have a spring binding issue and im hoping that this will take care of the issue as well because I assuming the bearings that hold the spring are stronger than oem.

BC shouldve supplied camber/caster plates with their kits. I got them too but my caster is all Fd up with no adjustability at the moment. My tires are getting chewed up. Did you have to redo the preload when you swapped the plates?

I feel like that upper control are and camber/caster plates do the samething, if so what is the difference?
@BimmerDude5 жыл бұрын
Hey man! Well caster has to do with the relation of the wheel to the center of the fender. ( closer to the driver or closer to the headlight) the camber adjusts the top wheel only ( in relation to the fender edge pulling it closer or further. Hope that helps

Dude... you should NEVER use an impact wrench to take off the top nut of a shock. It will damage the shock internals. Use a proper shock tool kit from Schwaben or other brand. Unless you are throwing away the old shock, do not use the impact wrench.
@imnota Жыл бұрын
Really this should just make you realize you're using bad quality coilovers if the manufacturer didn't take into account that m3's have special mounts with added caster, and just gave you normal camber plates
@hotrodninja4582 жыл бұрын
Your not being safe by using an impact. Set torque is the proper way to tightening any and all suspension fasteners.
