Best thing about this, is if you have cash you can buy, but don't even bother tring to finance. The book value banks go off of is about 8 to 9k and will only do maybe 120% value. So have 20k cash 😲 Good vid!!!

@@williambarcal9303 What about credit unions like PenFed and Lightstream? I heard they'll finance basically anything, no questions asked. Only conditions are your credit has to be spectacular. I'll have $20k cash but the thought of spending all of it at once makes my heart hurt a little bit.

@@vegeta12379 I can only speak to what I have checked out, and the lending at my credit union. If these places offer loans and on old cars, they must have a way to value the car to make sure they are not just giving money away. If I had 20k cash, I still would use it, to buy.this car. There value is only going to go up. I just got done sending a daughter to collage and a wife to college and I have a 15 year old that is probably going to college, so I wanted something for my self . Not cash rich, but would be able to pay a car note, knowing that I will probably have a car worth more than I paid. Even after finance chrages, interest.

Hell yeah man, I'm excitedi found a good one with some suspension modding (Ground Control Coilovers) and if things go right, I'm buying. I'm stoked AF: I've wanted an E46 M3 for like 15 years now, and it's a 6-spd in Carbon Black. I cant go wrong. Give it a little mostly stock driving time and then I'm gonna tear the motor out and drop the rear sub-frame and start a long-haul build. Phase 1: Must Fixes/Upgrades and Reliability (pretty much all the motor stuff I can do while it's on a stand) Phase 2: Suspension, Brakes, other stuff in prep for Phase 3: Super kit. Then I guess I'll spend the rest of my time and money chasing a solid tune and keeping it going lol.

In Europe the E46 M3 is already hard to get and very expensive to purchase. Reason of it is that a lot of BMW's are crashing on the Nürburgring, the green hell, in Germany. Now here in the USA the value goes up consistantly as well so I might be sticking with my 330CI. Exchanged cats for headers and puts almost 260hp to the wheels. Yeah, it's fun!

Lol what? rear subframe issues, rod bearings, vanos, sagging headliners and A pillar trim, cheap scratch prone plastic on the center console in the e46 m3. If this is your definition of reliable then you must drive a Range Rover. Not exactly reliable. The e92 at least fixed the rear end, fabric, vanos, and at least improved the interior plastics. But BMW still couldn't design proper rod bearings a generation later.

Those cheaper controls arms are everywhere now, I picked up a set nearly 2 years ago when I needed them quickly thinking that I would likely need to replace them with OEM Lemforder ones within 6 months or so. Nearly 15k or so on them later and they are still rock solid! Not sure of the actual brand but definitely worth it as they look/feel identical and were just under half the price of the OEM ones. Loving the usual armchair expert "comments" on here mentioning the subframe/rod bearing/vanos, etc. Don't people realise that most of these left on the road have had most of that work already taken care of? My own 2001 PY cabrio has only now started to show one small crack starting around the RACP and is getting sorted next month. Rod bearings are still good (annual oil analysis keeps an eye on the wear levels) and as yet there are no vanos issues whatsoever. Compression still within 10% across all cylinders. Sure, I'll be targeting the preventative areas as I go but I'm in no rush. But no matter how much you try and explain all this to some people, there are always idiots still insisting that the car is a ticking time bomb and I should be emptying my savings on it *right now*.

My S54 had about 160k before the rod bearings went bad (It was my fault because I was using Amsoil Dominator Racing oil with 5k miles of street driving) but the engine was still like new, 0 wear on the walls, 0 scoring on the cams, it's just a solid built engine, the LS is great, but you couldn't get 60k of abuse on it, probe me wrong.

I’ve owned my M3 for a minute now and I’m absolutely in love with it a lot of that has to do with the SMGII. No problems and it shifts very quick. To call it “trash” tells me you lack perspective and credibility. As an owner it’s everything but that. Never will it compete with a DCT but man it’s so much fun. Maybe that’s because I’ve maintained it? I’m assuming you haven’t owned one as well. Other then that the video was excellent and appeared to be accurate. keep up the work!!

Thanks for your view man yeah if you stick around for any length of time you know that when I mentioned things like that I'm being cynical purposely LOL merely poking fun at the naysayers. I've only ever had experience with broken SMG cars. Here in Houston they are very plentiful. I think someone who maintains there SMG is more of a rarity. 😅

I just sold my ‘02 M3. Replaced it with an E34 M5, and I think it’s a far better car. The only thing I miss about my M3 is how reliable and cheap to run it was. No joke! I sold it at 212k miles.

I’m hearing that the SMG variants aren’t as bad as most ppl say they are. As long as you stay on top of it, and give it what it needs, it’s reliable.

If you want LS just get a Camaro as they are a monster car. S54 is a rev monster! Can't over rev the SMG so it does have that going for it. My daily is a 6 speed and it is a blast to drive.

@@BimmerDude Items I did: Caveat is if you do not have a service history Replaced the bearings Shimmed the valves myself, time consuming but not hard. While you are in there check the exhaust hub tabs. Broke mine on the track car. Replace all fluids so I had a baseline Later I replaced the wheel bearings so I had a baseline, also a good diy job.

I think the e9x s65 motors are starting to get up there in miles and so far it's fine. People do the rod bearings and then move on with their life.

My buddy just rolled his clock over to 370k miles on a Non M E46 coupe! so thats saying something right there these e46 models are built to last! Granted you take care of them properly and not go shit horse on the motor and drive it like you stole it type shit. (that actually goes for every car) but e46 non M's and M's specifically desire key attentions when absolutely needed like oil changes, filters, Disa valve, coils and plugs etc etc!! I promise you if you take good care of these E46's they sure take care of YOU and you'll deff notice it every time you drive it! I have two. AND LOVE THEM!!!!! These arent gonna last on 2nd market forever so hope you get to own one someday! best of luck lads

Sorry, I'm old at 54 and drive a very nice clean stock 2004 325ci manual. It has the standard sport suspension which is rough enough and I could't deal with a M3 on a daily basses. I also own a 911 so I feel I have the best of both worlds.
