Great to see the underside of that chassis it really shows the level of detail you have gone thru. This is the first time I have witnessed a remount of a body. I can really appreciate the issues related to the alignment of the replacement panels to the frame. It was a great video and a huge accomplishment on your project. Deuce was great also.

Thanks! And Deuce does all that quirky stuff without encouragement. He's just a happy little dog!

Deuce seems to be a good supervisor- doesn't get too much in the way, doesn't tell you what to do... and of course you properly left some more DNA in the job. Sounds like a good day.
@RestoringChristine19562 жыл бұрын
DNA... Good one! I'm going to have to remember that! It's a keeper!

pull out the bracing and check your back bushings again. then your next check will be when you put the doors on. Enjoy the channel. I'm getting ready to paint the frame. Keep up the good work and don't get discouraged.

I admire your courage and perseverance! I'm 71 and remember the creeper under the car years. I bought a 2 post lift or I would not be able to rebuild my 56. Keep up the good work and videos! You have been a great help and inspiration to me, and I'm sure, many others. I have also printed out some things you share, like the Danchuck link today. 56Rick. :)

@@RestoringChristine1956 I am looking into renting a dry ice 'blaster' to remove rust from frame in my shop without the mess of a sand/bead blaster.
@sizzle0732 жыл бұрын
Well done! I would say to install the doors so you know where the shims need to go if any. Like you referred to earlier in the video, there is a document that assists in how to get the doors to line up perfectly by means of the shims. Hopefully when you remove the inner temporary structure, those pesky trunk bolts will relax and you won’t need longer bolts. Nice job man!!
@RestoringChristine19562 жыл бұрын
I'm really looking forward to losing the braces! I will definitely cut them loose first before bolting down. I'm also really curious to see how the doors fit. Fingers crossed!

Hey Bill, maybe the inside bracing has caused the body to be higher above the frame thus causing the need for longer bolts. Try removing the bracing first to see if thats the problem. Good job.
@RestoringChristine19562 жыл бұрын
A couple of subscribers suggested the same thing. I just wonder if it tries to kink the quarters if I do that. We'll find out!
@randyellis31162 жыл бұрын
@@RestoringChristine1956 I wouldn't think so. But I've been wrong before. But you have 99٪ of the body fastened down, so you don't need the bracing anymore. You could loosen the ones you tightened a little and let the body relax. Also , when you put the tires back on , that may relieve some of the body stress. Just thinking out loud. Anyway , your getting closer.

You know, when I DO have a hand, it tends to slow me down. I work in a team environment all day long, but when I'm in the garage, that's my alone-time. As hard as it is, that's what I'm used to and will probably continue to do.

Mine had shimns on the pass side under the foot panel and the next one towards the back and thats all...I'da used the big round washers for the big gaps...musta been a stamping error or something... I wouldn't worry about tighnig perminent till the doors are on....lookin good.....
@RestoringChristine19562 жыл бұрын
That's the plan! I'm going to cut the braces first and then check fitment. After it's all squared up, I'll check with a torque wrench.
@johnkelly69426 ай бұрын
Looks like you worked on your driver side frame horn. Did that make it into a video? What number?
Just got done watching that. THANKS! As it is with old cars, I didn’t realize the frame horns on my ‘55 Nomad were bent until I got the front clip off (got the car as a “rolling project”). I was fooled by what appeared to be almost perfect front clip sheetmetal but the passenger side horn is really bent, driver’s side not as much. Because I need access to take out a big dent, I’m thinking I’ll remove those short diagonal braces, straighten the horns then reinstall the braces. Hope to have the body off the frame within the next couple weeks and will deal with that problem then.
