E60 M5 SMG hydraulic pump disassemble

Heads-up, just wanted to share some info, in my case, when I opened everything on the smg hydraulic and when I came to the point of cleaning all the electric motor internals and when I put everything back together just exactly as it I thought it was, I was not getting any pressure because it turned out that some how I switched the polarity of the terminas of the electric motor and was spinning the opposite direction… how? I don’t know but that solve my pressure problem

To use the e46 m3 pump the intake hole is smaller on the e46 m3 that has the small filter connected to the pump the e60 m5 has a larger intake hole cause the plastic resieviour connected to the pump you have to swap the intake side of the pumps

That part is located inside the SMG HYDRAULIC SYSTEM between the motor and reservoir

Someone said you can't take that apart if so you need to replace whole unit

You can. I did and have been years since I took it apart

I took mine apart several times. My main issue was exposed wires in the SMG cable short out. Pump rebuild was easy.

Yes, got it working but while driving it would intermittently go into limp mode with yellow cog. Turned out the wires to the SMG unit were bad and need to be repaired or replaced. At that point I was tired of dealing with it and replaced the entire SMG unit.
