I head into the Peak District to try and catch the last of the colour of the heather...but am I too late?

Craig - great to see you out and about once again. Always a treat to understand your approach to composition along with the excellent tip using the grad and histogram. I'll need to use that next time I'm out. Thank you for your work and cheers!

As usual, great music (triphop downtempo), great funny comments and good technical explanation. Antithesis of Thomas Heaton, Michael Bretung and Jani Nendl which I also appreciate. Very entertaining and pleasant to listen & watch. Happy to hear that your foot is recovering so that we can enjoy new vlogs.

Many thanks, Craig for such a well presented (as always) show. Your finished work always looks so honest. You make it happen in camera-rather than in a photo editing program and you talk "with" me rather than "at me". I like to remind my "Full Frame" friend that you don't always need the extra pixels to produce stunning work. I have both FF and APS-C (Nikon and Fuji XT) but no longer use the big fella.

Thanks Craig. Another inspiring video. Hope that foot injury is okay now. I had a similar thing last year, but fortunately it didn't hinder a trip to Scotland, where I was able to get some great photos around the lochs. Loved your histogram tip. Very helpful.

If I learn anything from a video even if it’s a quick tip then I feel the video is a success in my book. The histogram tip you mentioned did it for me. Love your videos thanks for sharing on KZbin and I hit the “ Bell”.

Using the histogram to set the position of the grads reminds me of our recent Liverpool 1-to-1 where i told you that i was struggling and you described this method. Used it several times since and can finally set the grads :) Also the heather reminds me of my first solo shots after the session :) Lovely video

I think you're the one of the first photo-vloggers I've seen acknowledge that "the light" isn't everything, and emphasize that you can shoot in every light as long as there is light. Yes, certain spaces are best photographed in certain conditions, but the light isn't the only thing you need to take a good picture. Perhaps it's because I'm not a landscape photographer, so I don't put so much emphasis on the "right" light, but it's kind of frustrating to see people downplay the quality of their photos just because they're not perfectly lit and "just so" when the weather/light/other conditions aren't right. So thank you for that. And thank you for the histogram tip, it's super helpful!

Another great video, Craig, it makes me want to go out and shoot some heather shots also although I'm probably a bit late now myself. Either or that or a nice rapeseed field is also great for shots but I probably missed out on that too! Anyway, great images as always, will need to check out the Peak district sometime myself in future.

I clicked on the video just based on the thumbnail, then realising it was one of yours is definitely a win win situation. Another great video, they are always so informative and entertaining and definitely no "rules" that we MUST do. I'm more than a little ambiguous around sunrises/sets, if they add something to an image I think they are ok. However, when they become the subject, or even overpower whatever is supposed to be the subject and saturation is taken to the highest setting in the editing program my reaction is either "meh" or "urgh". To me they are merely lighting, and we don't take images of our studio strobes. I hope you foot is feeling better now, and thank you for making the video.

I'm enjoying it thanks. Really need to do another wildlife one. There's lots of landscape photography channels and quite a bit of macro but very little Wildlife Photography in the field - so I think there's a niche for what I do. You're doing really well for subscribers Craig.. and views! Well deserved.

Watching all your videos, one after another (like chocolate treets if you see what I mean) I have noticed that when shooting vertical pictures the camera is always slightly inclined forwards. I understand that you might consider that as better way to balance the size sky in you composition than just placing your tripod in a lower position. But it is just an assumption. As I wish to improve my vertical photographing technique could tell me more about this ?

Glad you got rid of that annoying body hair you missed on your cheek at the start of your video :),all about the details.And also happy you mentioned other photographers wouldn't be out in your conditions, there is a large gap between sunset and sunrise, no that should be the other way around, cheers.

I have done the very unusual, but give you a thumbs down for the first time. Why? because you was saying when using a grad to look at the histogram. Sorry but my Nikon D90 and I assume many other camera users do not have that feature, so please dont explain that what is not necessarily the norm.
@MrSunworshiper

Michael Halligan The D90 does have a histogram in playback mode. You will just need to take a picture and review it. Adjust grade accordingly.
