I've been a regular 'ringer since 2001 so have seen lots of cars and people come and go in that time, but when this first showed up on the scene it immediately grabbed everyone's attention and had every man and his dog vying for a passenger lap with Klaus (who appeared to be a larger than life wheeler-dealer character - mainly due to his penchant for multiple mobile phones he always had in the car or on his person LOL. I had seen a number of people over the years approach him and been (very) politely turned down, but at DN16 I saw an opportunity to do the same (expecting a similar response), but for some reason he said "sure, no problem" and allowed me to jump in (for what I can only say was an education of smooth driving). Perhaps it was because he could tell I was well versed in the car or perhaps it was the fact that I was a fellow BMW (CSL) owner, but for what-ever the reason, it was a lap I will never forget. He took the time in explaining how he managed to put in such fast and consistent laps, which he proceeded to demonstrate. There was no yawing at the wheel, no dramatic tyre screeching or drama, he was basically steering with two-fingers of each hand (just to demonstrate his smooth approach). But what surprised me the most was the way he used the engine. Instead of being in a lower gear screaming the engine and fighting the chassis, he told me that he always used a higher gear than would be expected, where he could use full throttle and the torque of the stroked S65, rather than having to feather the throttle and manage the traction if it had been in a lower gear. Obviously it helped that his knowledge of the track enabled him to use every single millimetre to do this, but the lap was completed epically fast with no drama or fuss what-so-ever. It highlighted three things to me - Klaus properly knew how to drive, Tom properly knew how to build a car and the S65 was one of the best engines ever built. I hope Klaus sees this so he knows that almost four years on, I'm still smiling (and still yearning to build an S65'd E46 M3).

I was fortunate enough to get a lap in this with Tim in 2018 and the relentless power and grip this machine has is phenomenal, but more than that, the car really talks to you and let's you know exactly what it's doing. One of the most beautiful cars I’ve seen in a very long time. The experience in the ring must be out of this world...this beats all supercars in every single area...so raw and bare bones. You should get rid of the McLaren and get more of these, so people can be educated on what a car should feel on a track.

GREETINGS from Colorado, Robert! Gosh. Yet another great idea. Robert's Fleet Series, Episode 1. Yet again, you're on to something here. Here, n only four and a half minutes you've expressed the spirit of this unique car and done so in your unique yet evolving and growing personal style. Expressing at once how you are generously sharing the car in a powerful and intimate style. While at the same time and in the manner of gentle friendship, just why, no, you may NOT buy or drive this car. But hey, if anyone is able to trust you and buy a ride, GOLLY they can get bloody close to the experience of the drive AND bring home a 4K video of you and two close friends having as much fun and thrill as anyone CAN have with their pants on. And where someone can't understand and accept all that, possibly due to wearing an aluminum hat that blocks the intake of all common sense, well, in previous episodes you and Misha have shared every detail of the cost, profit, risks and just about every single detail of taxi ownership stuff that many might say ain't nobody's business but my own. Yo.

Fantastic E92! What are your thoughts on the new M5 CS doing testing on the ring? I assume it will still be too big and heavy as a viable basis for a taxi for Apex? And how would you rate the big three German makes (MB, BMW, Audi) when it comes to track bias/track readyness? I see a lot of BMW testing videos on KZbin, where it seems they do lots of laps but less so for the other two brands (with the exception of the AMG GT Black series). Are BMW M still the more trackday/track driving oriented company of the three in your mind?

Robert Mitchell 991.1 GT3RS.....stock 😉. Comparing highly modded to stock cars doesn’t equate.
