E92 M3: Spirited Drive w/American Racing Header Setup and Ohlins RT (3DM Motorsport)

E92 M3 2.0 is here and it's freaking great. The combination of the exhaust and intake induction, paired with the super compliant and excellent handling Ohlins has me in love all over again. This car will always be one of my absolute favorites, and it's definitely gonna stick around for a long time. Just listen to that S65 sing!

S65 is a much better engine than S54. More power, revs higher, it’s more compact, lighter and sounds 100x better. No contest. Only area where the S54 wins is from a historical perspective; straight six was the original ///M engine architecture. S85 is a cool engine but it is (usually) connected to the worst transmission BMW has ever made, the SMG.

@@gregs8685 It's the historical perspective I have for youngtimers. I know such cars and transmission is doable in the highest setting + can tweak a bit. Just the rod bearings that needs to be checked and replaced is biggest task.

The E92 M3 is my fav car of all time. And I will own one eventually. :D But for now, we live the experience through you good sir. I love what you done with this thingg. It sounds greatt through video, sure it sounds even better in person. :) I think I always dreamed of having the Eisenmann Race Exhaust with it, but I believe we talked about that setup and you said it drones. So I would definitely consider this setup as a go too, if I were lookin at some exhausts and headers to run. Helps having someone like you try out all these different exhausts and headers on all these cars to find perfection haha. I didn't know you had plans on getting an E46 M3 till now too. Im super pumpedd. Im not the biggest E36 fan, but I do see why people like them. The E46 was always old enough and looked similar to the E36 but better with more curves, so I was the biggest fan of them. But damn an E92 and E46 are just the most gorgeous rides in my eyes. Can't wait to see what happens with those E46 plans.

Matt, if you haven't done so yet, I would highly recommend a set of aluminum pedal covers. I just installed a set of the Turner Motorsport pedals in my E92 M3 6mt (also Lemans Blue) and the added directness through your feet is surprisingly noticeable.

The 2.5 mod of the oem backbox gives you the same fantastic sound without any drone, but no weight savings and no performance increase ofc. So if you are on a tighter budget that is the way to do it.

Great video and I agree with pretty much everything you said I can see your very passionate about your M3, I have an 09 E90 M3 with a Milltek exhaust system and it sounds perfect... My only critique would be that you filmed yourself doing some questionable stuff and then showed where you live. I know the chances of cops showing up at your door is probably 0 but I was just thinking it's probably not a good idea to provide that information

Interestingly. The ARH long tubes seem to remove some of the smoother tone from the "almost" equal length stock headers and bring back a more classic "American" V8 rumble. Still, does sound good up there at high revs. Not sure which of the sounds I prefer.

You may be the only guy who is willing to experiment with multiple/custom exhaust setups to make that thing sound less ‘tinny’ at low rpms than anyone else. So far only Castro Motorsports and a guy named jjjccoobbb on IG seems to have the exhaust dialed in.

How does the power feel compared to your Shelby gt350? The m3 with arh sounds very similar to the gt350 with arh. I love it!

The GT350 is miles faster than this car. Transmission is also much better. The M3 feels a whole lot smaller due to the weight. On the GT350, you can dwell all that weight transferring through you. The M3 feels much more balanced and quick. They sound very, very different. The GT350 is all exhaust while the M3 is equal exhaust/induction noise:
