I have watched so many videos and they all seem a bit biased. You, however, are spot on. I am just not finishing my Master's in Accounting, and after 5 years of working in tax, I don't really see the point of sitting for the full CPA. My profs, old boss, everyone, has told me, get the EA, because of my tax tenure and experience in the tax profession.

EazyEColi That (EA)goes with your area you’re specializing into. Taxes is very, lucrative especially if you learn to help the client. Then you’ll be getting over on your skills vs you’re a CPA that do nothing for your clients but take money.

actually CPAs are not tax pro;however, nearly only 1% of CPAs are exclusively enagaged in tax return biz. EAs are exclusively tax experts/pros;however, EAs are not /can not be engaged in audits. however many preparers that are neither EAs nor CPAs also file returns alot annual basis.

Your statement could be true but that works person to person and based on what they specialize in. EA's specialize in taxation so they typically know much more on that topic than CPAs who know much more on auditing financials. You may not appreciate the services you received from Hawkins & Martinez but remember the EA is a federal license while the CPA is a state license.

@@tonicovey1472 Remember that EA basically do not require any education. 18 year old can take prep classes, pass 3 EA exams and that is it. They are licensed to do taxes. CPA needs bachelor degree, minimim 24 units of taxation, pass 4 extremely hard test and 1 year of experience working for CPA before they can get a license.
