@@DouglasThompson real roads but with randomly added corners to make them "more exciting", look at the 0:14 straight that is changed to 4 corners because it's a boring 200m straight lmao

people judge what is shown. objective people, not Codemasters fans or DiRT fans who say everything is perfect even if the truth is different. graphically it's not very nice, you use Unreal engine 5 and you show me the snow that looks like polystyrene. the rain is horrible like on the First DiRT rally. the interiors and liveries of the cars are not very well looked after. look at the rear number plate of the Skoda and I20 WRC... badly reproduced. particle effects are almost absent on both asphalt and dirt roads. the marshalls in the world championship have yellow bibs, 3/4 of the game is recycled from DiRT rally 2.0; the physics of the asphalt does not seem improved when viewed in third person. it still seems to rotate around a central pivot. You can't see any work on the suspension, chassis or tyres. the latter seem to be disconnected 1cm from the ground as if the machine were almost floating. we didn't see any damage system, they deliberately showed very little. there is a WRC license and there are demanding simracers (even drivers with real experience) who expect a clear leap in quality, not the usual reheated soup.

thanks, this tells me everything about the "realism" of the new stages. Look at 0:14 for example. Completely straight piece of road with manually manufactured wiggly corners. On a stage that is otherwise supposed to be a copy of the real stage. This tells me they have once again made them "more exciting to drive" because real life is boring sometimes.

@@physx42 I just don't understand the thought process of the developers here. They took a GPS spline of the stage and modelled it lets say 90% accurately. Then they decided, hey, here's a 200m of boring road, we should add some corners to it! Like, what is the point?

nice, thanks for creating the video. i think the only thing really different is the density of trees and vegetation. one other difference maybe is the "fog" in gameplay distance, while its more clear irl. but that might has to with dev choices and loading of things. ofcourse we cant expect an 1on1 replica like with laser scanned tracks. that just doesnt really work with creating rally stages. than development times rises a lot, and maybe also the question like things of provacy comes into question maybe.

Hmmmmm, the real video on bottom has been manipulated to try and keep it in sync with game video with very mixed results. Not saying the game is bad, just the stage clearly isn’t exactly lifted from the real Rally Japan stage
