Really does play out exactly like a horror movie. The Eagle appears out of nowhere in a flash, instantly whiplashing the mood into pure terror. The slightly larger chick is forced to stay perfectly still and quiet for the small chance that the Eagle will forget about it and leave, but to no avail. A slow and brutal death ensues while the smaller chick underneath is forced to watch, and only survives because it hid under the body of their sibling while they were being mutilated

My heart plummeted when I saw the talons land. It played out like a horror movie. That one chick, if it survives, will never be the same. Even though it still ate when mom returned it looked terrified beyond belief. Rip to the sibling that died. Unfortunate it was eaten alive so slowly. It’s nature sure but It’s hard being a bird eh! Everything wants to eat you even your own species.

Not likely. For starters, the survivor probably wouldn't have dwelled on it. As an adult it would have no memory of how it's sibling was taken, but the sad fact is that it was probably eaten itself later. Hawks have great memories when it comes to remembering where it found a nest, so it probably returned to get baby #2 once it was done with #1.

That hawk caused a large hematoma above the remaining chick's right eye.

If you watch it in slower motion the chick that was left was the lesser developed one. It’s not a hematoma it’s just the downy fluff still over it’s eyes. It was under the larger more developed chick the whole time and the hawk never touched that one but unfortunately now that it knows where the nest is I am sure it will come back for the second one. Hopefully it will be lucky and the hawk won’t be back. It’s too bad they are beautiful birds but I guess that’s just how nature works sometimes.

Dear Nature Bird, I humbly request you to please post all the videos of this series. Especially, when the eagle eats the feathers of the above bird from other side. I had seen two times the video when the eagle was eating the feathers of baby bird from the other side, but later the video was removed. I don't know, Why? Please also show the story of another baby bird who was in this nest. Afterwards, there are videos of both the baby chicks in the nest, and mother bird is feeding to both of them. 以前のコメントで、木の葉のせいで見づらいと書きましたが、昨日この動画の完全版を見ました。この4分半の動画は、実は5分の1程度に大きく短縮されたものです。 完全版を見ると、ワシは雛に更にくちばしを加え、頭頂部、頭部の主要部分、頭全体という順序で引きちぎっています。頭の主要部をちぎり取られた雛が、残った下顎（下のくちばし）と舌をヒクヒクと動かし、次にそれらもワシに食いちぎられ、脳みそが出てそれも食われ……と、下手なホラー映像より見応えがあります。やはり木の葉が邪魔しているのが難点。 ワシにさらわれて行く時点では、雛は胴体だけになっており、もう生きていないようです。
