So whats really happening here is the eagle standing on the ice is waiting for fish to float out from underneath the ice and then the eagles grab them. Its a lazy birds way to not waste energy and still get fed. At the 55 sec mark, youll see a fish float out from under the ice (bottom left of screen where ice meets the water) and the fish slowly floats down river. But the eagle on the ice didn't see it.

I know some people gonna think this is a stupid question. But I don't think it is, but I was just wondering. Do eagles have feelings in their claws? Because I don't know what you call their feet. I'm just watching that Eagle stand on ice. Even sometimes water splashing on it and you know it's cold. But yet he acts like he doesn't feel the cold. And by the way, that last shot with the other Eagle... sweet!

@mokihaname no worries! Questions are how we all learn. From what I've read, they have a heat exchange "system" (i forget the scientific term) that warms the blood upon returning to their body from their "feet". So heat loss is minimal and keeps their feet comfortable... They probably feel a little but not like we would standing barefoot on ice. Ive watched eagles stand on ice for a VERY long time. So I don't think it bothers them too much. Thanks!

@PatriciaGuth-i3v I don't think so. There was about 150-200 eagles there that day. And so many were catching fish. Some learned like this to wait for fish to float out from under the ice. If you watch the video again and pay close attention, you can see the fish that the eagle swooped down after, actually came out from under the ice on the left and floated down the river long before the eagle caught it
