Tommy was my neighbor growing up and I actually brought him in for show in tell back in 2003 in the 2nd grade. He was such a nice man. He talked to the football team and let everyone hold his championship ring.

Very nice tribute to Tommy.....he was quite a guy. Welcomed us into his home on several occasions. He will be missed. Great player and a really down to earth person.

Seldom have I seen a guy who had more fun out of life than Tommy McDonald. That irrepressible spirit will be remembered always, as well as his amazing talent.

God bless you Tommy and may you rest in peace. The first NFL game i saw on tv was in 1960, the NFL Championship game between the Eagles and the Packers. I was 11 years-old and Tommy McDonald along with the great passing attack led by Norm Van Brocklin made me an instant Eagles fan. Tommy was not only a great player, but a true gentleman as well.

I remember sitting in a VFW on Fairmount Ave in Philly with my Dad watching the game when McDonald scored that TD with 12 seconds left against Washington. The place went crazy!

I'm a Tom Landry-era Dallas Cowboys fan, and I remember Tommy McDonald playing his one season, 1964, for the Cowboys. Obviously, he put up his NFL numbers AGAINST my team and the rest of the league before '64. He reminded me a little bit of baseball's Pete Rose with his constant hustling style, and ALWAYS upbeat. He also was the last NFL player to wear his helmet with no facemask. God bless our NFL heroes that brought much joy to us fans. R.I.P. TOMMY MCDONALD🏈

I remember McDonald from that 1960 championship game in particular, having seen it on TV. Later, he was on the Rams for a few years, not wearing a face mask. That was in the mid-60's. Being in the Bay Area, with the blackout of home games then, if the 49ers had a home game and the Rams too, we got the Rams game on KPIX in San Francisco in the afternoon on Sundays. So, I got to see McDonald play some games on the TV at that time. Being a Rams hater, he was the one Ram I liked.

Towards the end of his career, Tommy played a season for the Browns. Last guy in the NFL to play without a face mask! Very cool!

Mr.McDonald had MY football number and i didnt e ven know it.i use to read those old football publications in 8th and 9th grade showing the year by year NFL championship back in ohio & became aware of him, and all the stills or film of him always showed him animated with exhuberance.little did i know i would be stationed in the navy in philly that i would be so immersed in Eagles history and games just outside base.i mentioned earlier when the 1960 team was recognized in 1990 there was Tommy Mcdonald still making us laugh with his antics.
