From 1974 to 1976 the Eagles were going back and forth between Mike Boryla and Roman Gabriel until Ron Jaworski arrived in 1977 and gave stability at the QB position until 1986 when he was succeeded by Randall Cunningham as the Eagles starting QB.

So many times... the rebuilding process had started only to fizzle out. I think Mike McCormack did a good job getting the Eagles to contender status by 1974 but 75 was probably the most bitter disappointing year in Eagles history highlighted by a 42-3 loss to the Rams at home on a Monday night. Going into 1975, the Eagles felt they had a borderline championship caliber defense combined with some world class talent on offense. They were always missing the breakaway runner and would get it with Wilbert Montgomery in 1977. The offensive line clearly needed fixed. The spirit of McCormack remained with two wins over the Redskins that kept DC out of the playoffs. The rebuilding process that McCormack began, Dick vermeil finished by decades end

The 75 Eagles had absolutely no defensive line. They were able to draft Wilbert Montgomery with a pick they picked up in a trade for Joe Lavender

@@conlanding Didn’t Mike McCormick used to be an assistant for George Allen in Washington? What does this has to do with the Eagles? Well George Allen used to trade first round picks for veterans and he won. Mike McCormick tried to do the same with the Eagles. Well, what works with one doesn’t always work for the other.

A more accurate way of describing Eagles' WR corps that year is no one gained more than 660yrds because the QB rating for Gabriel/Boryla combined was a terrible 62.3

He played in the pro bowl after the season because other NFC QB's were either hurt or declined to play. He won the game with a trick play he devised called the "Boryla Special"
