Discipline and emotional maturity play a significant role in achieving success. No. 4 got me thinking: where we were born and raised most likely (I mean, for stable families living safely and comfortably in a civil country) were the locations that suited our parents or other older family members. They might not be suitable for us. Thus, venture out to find the city or place that we enjoy and would like to stay probably is important in our life journey.

More and more people might face a tough time in retirement. Low-paying jobs, inflation, and high rents make it hard to save. Now, middle-class Americans find it tough to own a home too, leaving them without a place to retire.
@LUCIASMITH-d1z8 күн бұрын
The increasing prices have impacted my plan to retire at 62, work part-time, and save for the future. I'm concerned about whether those who navigated the 2008 financial crisis had an easier time than I am currently experiencing. The combination of stock market volatility and a decrease in income is causing anxiety about whether I'll have sufficient funds for retirement.

This is precisely why I like having a portfolio coach guide my day-to-day market decisions: with their extensive knowledge of going long and short at the same time, using risk for its asymmetrical upside and laying it off as a hedge against the inevitable downward turns, their skillset makes it nearly impossible for them to underperform. I've been utilizing a portfolio coach for more than two years, and I've made over $800,000

It's so unfair, in the US can you can leave Uni with 100k debt and a degree in art history. Here in Switzerland, my BSc and MSc degrees were more or less free (apart from an almost symbolic tuition fee) and my PhD in engineering paid me almost 6 figures for 4 years. So instead of 100k debt you walk out with 150k in savings just after your PhD

You have a lot less people where you live. The US is huge, and we have poor people from all over entering illegally into our country for free handouts which we pay for by our taxes. If we were small, and had merit-based immigration, we could do what you do. But this country is too big and porous for that.
@coolguy919752 күн бұрын
You still can do this, the big difference in the US is anyone can go and get degrees, regardless of aptitude or economic return; it's a big reason we have a student debt crisis. If one has the aptitude and is a great candidate, they will often avoid tuition and debt, and be paid post graduate. SZ is likely smarter, and will invest in those that will truly provide a return. The US stopped doing that, and the returns in investment education have been largely negative in economic terms.
@amarug2 күн бұрын
@ Also like this diplomas mean exactly what they are supposed to mean, like if you have a masters degree in physics, it means you are ace at physics and it has nothing to do with your parents bank account.

I worked part time while going to school in the US. Because my loans and grants paid for my living expenses, I was able to invest my income and graduated in a similar situation as you. Granted, I only received a Bachelor’s degree and higher education would have been more costly. But it is very easy to graduate with a positive net worth in the US if you work. Most people don’t.

While I strive for BETTER and more, the wealthy understand the tactics to avoid taxes and much more and then the alot of people on benefits are getting away with alot and understand how to play the game. What I don't like about rich people, is, that they value money and that's it. Skills? Who cares? Skills are the business of the people, you can hire. And if you do something difficult, like playing an instrument, speaking another language, creating something,they don't see any value in it, unless it creates wealth. Unless, of course, you play golf or tennis ( which I don't like).

For me the difference comes down to whether you must work, or whether its optional. It's not so much amount, though that matters it's not the end all. Buffet lives at a lower standard than probably much of the upper middle class, but the upper middle cannot sustain their lifestyle without work.
