The Cashel branch would make a great heritage railway, so would the Loughrea branch.

@@eamonnca1 Gooldscross Station was open to goods traffic until 1963 and passengers until 1976. It then operated as a block post until 1986 and did not close in the 50's as stated. The Cashel line did have an intermediate station approx 3 miles from Gooldscross at Ardmayle where construction of the line began in 1903. The house depicting Cashel Station has and never had any connection to the railway other than being close to it. The Station was situated beside the existing warehouses. It was a completely galvanised structure and was burned to the ground in.the late 1980's. No remains exist today.. The line itself closed in 1954 but many excursion special trains operated on it until 1957. (GAA specials and cattle trains mostly). It was lifted in 1960 and 1961.

The railway line like all should be reopened to trains to cut down 1) Traffic Jams, 2) Car Accidents/Road Deaths & 3) Pollution.
