I think many people won't realise the insanity of what you two can do with such ease, grace and intelligence. It's a superpower, truly -takes me forever to transcribe simple pieces sometimes. You're both obviously great instructors but also great artists and v cool folks!

Quote kinda reminds me of the theme from the old TV show "Taxi" but I think in a different key. If so, that's really cool that you did that, and even more shocking that this old lady can hear it but the musical memory works in weird ways. Lol

Fun! Good challenge. I taught 3 levels of ear training at SFSU in the 1970's. I would have loved to have you both in my class. I used to have students come up with a song for each interval up and down from m2 through M10th. I had a chart for them to fill out. It was helpful. I still use that method for myself. Because the emphasis of the department was contemporary classical, atonal twists and leaps were the challenge. I liked the "finish the lick" in multiple ways exercise. Very practical fo jazz. Fun hearing you scat together. Swingin'. Fun watching you challenge each other - and so impressed with both of you - your openness to accepting the challenges and your skill. Epic Duel, indeed! Just the Two of You!

Oh wow, this was fun! I have the exact perception of instrumental sounds as Aimee, but human voice is tricky. Perfect pitch is a spectrum like most things! I like to think of it as a hyper sensitivity for outgoing and/or incoming audio signals. I think I apply many of Rosana's strategies because they are sometimes more effective than perfect pitch for speed

3:00 Interesting! When people talk about perfect pitch, they usually talk about it as an absolute binary (you have it or you dont), but it makes complete sense to me that people can develop perfect pitch just on their instrument, as their ears get used to the different timbres they work with all day. Really fun video! My ears are trained enough to hear "yep, that's right," but my untrained voice always refuses to play ball with actually doing anything like this, lol.

Does it make it easier being in front of the piano and visualizing what the interval should be. Then it's a matter of singing the note that's in front of you? Obvs still very cool though! Perhaps harder with your eyes closed? Edit: Ohh wait, Aimee was doing something similar! very cool. :)

So interesting you having perfect pitch when @you’re piano. Trying to get the same on guitar with my inner voice. Wonder if you loose it if you would excercice less. I can get there if I play a lot but I also loose it when not playing for a while…

consensus seems to be: no, not at first, though it’s better to familiarize yourself with the sound of the interval rather than trying to sing the song every time
