I can judge it to some extent, because I have been watching videos for 5 years. And I watch channels which have detailed medical explanations like Audiology Associates, Mr Neel Raithata, and Connor from Durham hearing specialists. So I know a fair amount about the different instrumentation and techniques. I don't criticise them for leaving the odd bit of wax in.

@@PreservationEnthusiast I watch them all as well! You are exactly right! They all say that leaving some wax in is the most important part of ear care. Conor and Neel explained it well several times, regarding the acidity of wax, and that the critical purposes for the wax. That is to catch foreign objects and repel insects, and to condition the skin to prevent water from creating real issues.

Not everything is too complicated for non MDs to understand. One can tell that when too much stuff is left inside the ear, it's going to cause problems again sooner rather than later.

Asthma acts up in this weather. My last surgery successful though! I am back driving! Shopping for some groceries, running some errands on my own! The pain is much less. Thank you for finding me! Stay cool and I truly hope you can stay cool, get good rest. I remember humid and over warm nights living there. Did you ever tell me what area you are living in? If you draw a line through Wales directly N/S, I was on the coast almost exactly along that line. I miss it a lot actually, mainly the food and tropical winters. I love these two together! I apologize in advance for my rant. If you’re not a hater or perpetual critic you can skip this. 🙂 1. These trained are working on human beings. Human beings experience pain - like when a tool pierces the ear drum or scratches the canal. Don’t expect them to risk their patients’ well being for your perception of what should be done. They are not posting these videos for your approval. 2. There are professional standards that they must adhere to to continue practicing. If one of them were to rupture an ear drum while trying to remove a spec of wax that will come off during the patient’s next shower, are they supposed to justify doing more than medically necessary by telling the review board that “a KZbin viewer complained that I didn’t get all the wax from the drum?” 3. They are working in an incredibly small space… it just looks bigger because they magnify it. They cannot wield the tools like Luke Skywalker swings a light saber. This is reality. If you pay attention, you’ll notice the number of times they have to come out of the ear canal - this is to reorient the tool because there isn’t enough room inside the canal to maneuver it. 4. This isn’t a video game. They have mad skills, but there is a limit to what they can do with the tools. In the video game version it would be easy to take a little piece of skin off the drum with crocodile forceps. BUT in real life, you have to grab at least a millimeter or two to be able to get it out… unfortunately, those millimeters are through the ear drum into the middle ear. 5. I don’t care how many videos from different practitioners you’ve watched, until you’ve gone through the education and real life experience, you know nothing. 6. Didn’t your mother teach you that if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all?

I just want to compliment both of you on outstanding work. I love watching each and every video. My grandson is 11 months old and just about every single week yellow wax is pushing its way out to the front of his ears. His mom uses Q-tips to clean his ear, yes I inform her not to. Does this mean that his ear is congested with wax and maybe dead skin? In the Uk do you clean infant's ears and what is the youngest age you accept patients?
