Had this DVD as a kid and it was so inspiring to watch as a young musician, these dudes completely busted their asses making this album, it's insane how many things went wrong during its production and it's crazy that it even got finished

Half of the talent on that record was buried under a cacophony of noise. Most of the intricacies during the recording process could have been forfeited for easier alternatives to absolutely zero detriment to the final product. After all, that shit has to be easily repeatable so as to be played live.

@@xttocx 2004 it came out I think. Dissimulate is one of my favourite all-time albums. I feel like The Berzerker lost their way later on but Dissimulate sounded so huge it was unreal. It will stand the test of time in another twenty years. It's a great album

That's what I always loved about the band, they were the only ones doing this stuff and the always bettered themselves. Luke is also directing a project with fans, people collaborating with him online from all over the world.

Shout out to whoever made it through thinking there was gonna be a drummer session somewhere to be seen since they have a drummer on their videos. And yes, I know they play on top of hundreds of samples, and that many drum patterns are overlayed, but there is an actual drum pattern behind everything.

They only had a drummer for the first time after this album was recorded. The drummer played on Dissimulate, which followed the album in the documentary. There was another doc for Dissimulate, which includes the drum tracking, but is much shorter.

As much as I like The Berzerker, this DVD just shows how incredibly inept these guys were as musicians and engineers. So many cringe moments. The nature of the music being heavily saturated with triggers and effects really allowed them to take some, shall we say 'liberties', when it came to musical ability and professionalism.
