Eardington Station Open Day September 2017

Eardington Station opens its doors at the SVR's Autumn Steam Festival. As this station is never used as such, it creates a fantastic opportunity to view and film trains passing through a station at 'speed' and not stopping. The day also gave me a chance to ride a rail inspector's Velocipede on the second line of the station. Also featured in this video is a detailed look at the work of a station lamp man.

Nice video, I have visited Eardington a few times during Galas but never seen the velocipede before! It's interesting that the station was built some distance from the village itself, looking at the map I wonder why they didn't put it somewhere near the summit of the bank.

The station's primary purpose was to serve Lower Forge which was located down the lane opposite and Upper Forge which was beyond the road bridge. The two were connected by a tunnel. The present Lamp Room was the original Goods Office.

i like this video, i see that there is a beware of trains sign. but isnt there supposed to be a bell or a whistle going when those trains go past? one of them did. safety first.
