I just picked these up and they were exactly what I was looking for. These are by far the most comfortable stem style buds I've ever used. And they are extremely well rounded. I don't need the Buds to be the "best" at any one thing. I need them to be good across the board. On that note, these exceed expectations. I'm super satisfied, and I never would have considered these otherwise. I EQ'd these and they sound excellent for my tastes. Better than the 4NC, and close but slightly different to the Oneplus Buds 3. Certainly recommend these.

Thank you for addressing the occlusion issues in your reviews. Almost no other reviewers do this. For whatever reason, I have very severe occlusion and have opted for open ear and semi-in-ear designs that lack the silicone tip. The lack of the tip seems to remove 90% of all occlusion, and the open ear designs have no occlusion, obviously.
@ReganCipher3 ай бұрын
No worries! I am rather sensitive to it as well. I always recommend to anyone to get even a cheap set of open-ears to accompany their main buds, rather than trying to max out budget on an all-conquering set that does everything, as I think we all feel the occlusion at some point to some degree or another so that backup set comes in really useful

Absolutely complete and science-based review. Congratulations! Any of you, friends, can give some feedback about the occlusion effect? Is it that bad while using ANC? My old Liberty 3 pro was fantastic at killing the sound of my own steps when ANC was on. Unfortunately, left earbud's battery just died and I thought the Air Pro 4 can be a great replacement.

Nice review. I have replaced the eartips with Spinfit Omnis, i would actually like to see that in reviews (how good are the included eartips?). My experience is that Spinfits are almost always superior. Anyway, agree with the ANC and sound conclusions, Lib 4NC is just a bit better (but profits even more from Spinfit CP100s).

I did used to include a 'preferred tips' section in some reviews, particularly where the stock ones are really bad, but the reviews were getting crazy long so I cut them where it wasn't clear cut, and getting the review out in time on this one was a priority. @ReganCipher2 ай бұрын
No worries, thank you! Occlusion is going to feel slightly different depending on the person as the way it sits in your ear is the biggest determinant, but for me, I would say it's more than the other 7 I included in my 'best under $100' video, albeit only really detectable when you're running or on a call. You can mitigate it a bit by trial and error with different eartips. It isn't a massive deal to me, but I mention it because I don't want to second guess how other people feel about it because everyone is sensitive in different ways to different things. Regarding the Liberty 4, I never tried it. It arrived to the UK late (all the big reviewers had covered it months before), and Soundcore don't send me things, so I skipped that one. Sorry!

you seem really knowledgeable with earbuds. i was wondering if all earbuds lifespan are on average 2-3 years? I was crazy in love with my first ever jabra 75t and told myself i will nvr go back to wired, but after a sudden battery drain issue (battery low within 10 mins of 100% charge) after frequent use over 3 years, I searched online and apparently earbuds lifespan are 2-3 years only. shocked me because good earbuds arent cheap and to expect them to die within 2 years is just too much for me. I wasn't sure if it was a brand issue or a general earbud industry wide issue, so im asking here in case you might know! Thanks!
@ReganCipherАй бұрын
There are too many variables to say with any kind of accuracy how long they will last due to the number of components and their tolerances, as well as environmental variables such as how much a person sweats, how much ear wax they produce, how many times they charge their earbuds, for how long they charge them, etc. I've got some that still work from 5 years ago, some that have died much quicker. My advice is usually buy with your eyes open - accept they could die within 3 years and don't spend what you're willing to lose. Also, use a cheap set of open ears for exercise - it will prolong the lifespan of your main set by quite a bit (as sweat and congealed earwax is one of the biggest killers for TWS)
@hgr126Ай бұрын
@@ReganCipher thanks for the detailed reply! it's good to know that there are actually earbuds that are still working 5 years on, because up till your reply, I have not seen a single post online mentioning anything beyond 2-3 years. Are there other brands/models apart from earfuns that you might suggest for my next 'gamble'? The max budget i am willing to lose is up till probably 150usd. Thanks again!

Thank you! Earfun just updated the firmware and improved the transparency mode and added an extra 'natural' transparency so that's fixed one of the things it fell short on. @ReganCipherАй бұрын
I actually prefer the sound of the Buds FE to the Earfun. The Buds FE are more dynamic sounding, whereas the Earfun are warmer and the bass is a bit pillowier, not as well defined. Both are single driver, whereas the Buds 3 Pro is dual driver and it's noticeable for sure - I only had a short listen but the B3P doesn't get as congested when you have layers of lower midrange instruments like guitars etc. The Earfun have some advantages over the Buds FE - lots of codec choice, more control customisation, different ANC modes, and a few other useful features, but the Buds 3 Pro has the dual drivers, better transparency, better ANC and much better call quality.

Great review but Can you turn the ANC off? ANC gives me mega headaches, ear pain and nausea (like many others that suffer from ANC sensitivity which is surprisingly a lot of people) and how is the passive noise isolation with the ANC off? And also does it effect the music quality?
@ReganCipher3 ай бұрын
Yeah I suffer from it too, although it's only Sony and Bose that give me those symptoms. I covered it in the controls section - you can switch off ANC, and choose which modes it cycles through, so you can only toggle transparency and ANC off, for example. I covered the passive isolation at some point too - it's going to be different with different shape and size ears but for me it was good. There is EQ shift with ANC off like every other set, which you're quite right I didn't cover. The bass floor drops a bit, but you can adjust the EQ to mitigate it 👍

If you have to choose between liberty 4 nc & earfun air pro 4 in terms of battery life & ANC which one will be your pick?
@ReganCipher3 ай бұрын
I already answered this further down: There's no outright best unfortunately, you have to compromise something because each brand does things slightly differently. For me, at least, I prefer the Earfun. It's true that the ANC is stronger on the L4 NC, but to me a marginal difference there is not important. The sound out of the box is more preferable to me, but that's why I include the Binaural samples for both in this video, so you can decide on both sound ANC which you prefer. Think of it as like test driving a car. Transparency is a bit weak on both of them, and neither are fantastic for calls in built up indoor environments. Earfun has lower latency for gaming, Soundcore has better battery without ANC but if you start switching everything on, Earfun overtakes it. Frustrating that there isn't a set that does everything better, but for me I overall prefer the Earfun. But mileage may vary.

Hi, I love the other aspects of the earfun air pro 4 but the occlusion is woreying as I mainly use earbud while running with ANC on, so the occlusion thud sound is annoying as i experienced with my current earbud. Which anc earbud would you think is best at this category for running factoring in occlusion?
@ReganCipher2 ай бұрын
I get occlusion with all ANC earbuds to some degree, other than the Apple Airpod Pro 2. You've got models like Realme Buds Air 6 Pro and Soundcore Liberty 4 NC which probably suffer less with occlusion than the Earfun, but perhaps aren't so good in terms of stability for running. Personally, I would recommend using open-ear earbuds like the FIIL GS or Truefree O1, as trying to find a general usage set that are also good for running is a bit of a thankless task. It will prolong the lifespan of your main earbuds too, because the mixture of sweat and congealed earwax will very quickly clog up the drivers and reduce the volume of your earbuds. Just my personal opinion from experience!
@RobertNES8163 ай бұрын
The air pro 3 had more then just bloated audio (which was mostly fixed with firmware updates) they also had issues with the audio being distorted when youd take the earbuds in and out of your ears with anc or Ambient modes on. Also the charging case never lasted for the advertised amount of time. Id average about 2 full charges before the case would die. Overall I ended up returning mine. Instead I bought the Tozo T20 which dont have anc or Ambient modes, but the call quality is just as good, the sound quality is better even without hi res audio codec, the sound stage is wider and bass is better controlled. The T20 are also smaller and have better battery life. I wanted to like my Earfun Pro 3 but they just had too many issues for the price.

If you have a Samsung phone, I'd get Samsung, but if not it comes down to what's important to you. The Earfun are packed full of features and codecs that mean you're getting the best or of them regardless of what model phone you have. They also have multipoint (ability to connect to two simultaneous devices) which is only available on the Samsung if you have two Samsung devices. The Samsung Buds do sound a bit better, but the difference isn't huge, so it really comes down to how much you value functionality and features. I haven't tried the Sony unfortunately

Stronger ANC on the Earfun but not as much customisation. Transparency mode is better on the QCY. More bass on the Earfun but it's not as fast or punchy. Both sets sound a bit closed in so you have to adjust the upper trebles on both. Both have a good custom EQ. Ear detection works better on the Earfun. @ReganCipherАй бұрын
LC3 is now available in developer options, they fixed it with the most recent firmware update. Haven't tested it fully but played some hi res stuff on tidal at 96k and it seems fine. Haven't tested out mic which is the thing that never seems to work with LC3. Also, every time you put the buds back in the case it will forget LC3 was your last selected codec - annoying, but again, same with all the other LC3 buds I tested (except Moondrop Ultrasonic, but they have their own bigger problems lol)
@burhanbudak6041Ай бұрын
@@ReganCipher THX for the clarification, but if LC3 is available, does it use Super Wideband for microphone calls. There could be third-party apps for codec selection outside the app.

I’m still on the edge of whether to pick this up or not. I hate this trend of TWS rolling off the deep sub bass, as if you listen at quieter levels it will make them sound thin and cheap. I also HATE this obnoxious trend of anti-occlusion obsession. Buds like the Liberty 4 NC, Oneplus Buds 3, and realme Air Pro 5/6 were nearly ruined because they made these buds shallow-fit. Not only does the shallow fit make the buds unstable, incapable of withstanding moderate exercise, they can even fall out just by leaning the wrong way. Even worse, shallow fitting tips ruin the bass response, and make it hard to get a consistent fit or tuning. Deep fitting eartips allow for a better sound, better ANC, better bass, better fit, and more options for 3rd-party tips. This ridiculous obsession with occlusion can be fixed if you just change the size and type of your eartips. There is no reason to ruin the entire thing just because some people are wearing eartips that are too large, or the provided tips are garbage. The Liberty 4 NC were terrible until I figured out how to use 3rd party tips with them. Using an adapter or stretching wide bore spinfit tips, I was able to improve the fit, comfort, ANC and sound all significantly - it blows my mind these companies won’t just do it right. Luckily the Soundcore Liberty 4NC’s case has enough space to fit better tips, but others like the realme did not. If someone really has an issue with occlusion that cannot be solved by using different eartips, they should just switch to airpod-style, no-tip earbuds. Since I’ve heard these aren’t as deep fitting as the previous set, that makes me worried they are following this shallow-fit-trend. More important, is there enough space in the case to use larger/longer eartips? I can probably EQ to fix the sub bass issues a bit, but the fit is a concern. I live in Canada so these are 100$ for me even with the discount, and it requires shipping/import fees, so I couldn’t just return them for free if they aren’t what I need. Anyone have a pair and use different/larger tips? Is there space in the case for taller ones,

@corsinivideos it's why I record in lots of different locations, so people can understand the limitations. Typically you won't get stellar call performance in every type of scene - even with bone conduction mics, the noise reduction algorithm isn't going to be perfect for the whole frequency spectrum, it will be strong on certain types of sounds and weak on others. @ReganCipher3 ай бұрын
I already answered this a few times in these comments: There's no outright best unfortunately, you have to compromise something because each brand does things slightly differently. For me, at least, I prefer the Earfun. It's true that the ANC is stronger on the L4 NC, but to me a marginal difference there is not important. The sound out of the box is more preferable to me, but that's why I include the Binaural samples in this video, so you can decide on both sound ANC which you prefer.

And above all, these Earfun Air Pro 4 bring nothing more than the Soundcore Liberty 4 NC, OnePlus Buds 3 and even the Earfun Air Pro 3, apart from Bluetooth LE /Auracast, which could have simply been added to the Air Pro 3 by an software update 🤷🏽♂️ You behave like Bose with its Qc 2 and Qc Ultra earbuds, and that's really not a good sign for the future of your brand 🤔 🚶🏽♂️ 🚶🏽♂️ 🚶🏽♂️ Ps: comparing your own ANC tests, the number 2 is normally the Qcy Ht08 Melobuds Pro and not these Earfun Air Pro 4 and even with regard to your table for the sound 🔊 quality, the Qcy are better 🤷🏽♂️
