As a little kid in the late 50s, I would listen to Grant's LPs...I loved the sounds he made even then. I ended up a B-3 player myself.

My grandmother had 2 of his LP's (Spotlight On... and the all instrumental Bali Hai). This will blow people's minds: were it not for Earl (and Young-Holt Unlimited), I might not have grown to appreciate not only The Allman Brothers Band but also all the classic modern jazz legends (Miles, Trane, Monk, MJQ, DBQ, Pat Metheny, etc.).

You know, Earl was as effortless at coaxing sounds out of the organ as Ethel Smith was. Two different approaches, but both made musical magic nonetheless.
