This is one of my favorite cakes ever and I bake A LOT. I steeped my cream and earl grey for an hour and put in the fridge the day before baking the cake. I dropped off slices on the doorstep of my single girl friends this past Valentine's Day and everyone raved. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Why tear open the bag to steep it if you just fish out the tea bits later? Why not leave it in the bag? (or use a tea holder if you are using a loose leaf tea)?
@johnc.3253 жыл бұрын
Love this recipe. I use early grey & lavender tea, and double the amt. I prefer cream cheese to marscapone in the whip (the tea-infused whip is insanely good). Also use a full orange worth of zest. Skipped adding chocolate the second time I baked-it gets a little lost, and is still super great without.

I made an earlgray cake with mascarpone a week ago just thinking would taste good but it's so weird to see it's a "real thing" even made by someone who's more of a pro)) The cream cheese would taste nothing like the mascarpone though, so think the best choice would be mascarpone. My cake base was more light, and I also made a syrup for it and topped it with kiwi and thought it fits great :) In general, earl gray cake is popular these days in asia, they even sell earl gray powder specialized for baking))

This is my go-to cake to make (although it's the ONLY cake I've ever baked personally)! The first time I baked it, it was a hit amongst my extended family. My husband requested for it recently, and a few days ago I made it together with the cream. I used cream cheese and it was quite runny, nonetheless, still tastes yummy!

I love this lady, Asians, especially from Sirlanca are stunning and brilliant. My take on this is that I would use ground almonds instead of flour, and see how it goes. Thanks for this lovely recipe, and yes it's Mascarpone, a fantastic Italian cream cheese that I use instead of Kraft cream cheese.
