Earl Holliman is a genuinely fine and interesting man. His many contributions to the community, the Theatre, film, television and more will continue to favor him for all the many good things he has done throughout his life. Actors & Others for Animals, and The Marine Toys for Tots programs just for starts. His work on television, film and on stage pays tribute to his profession and I am grateful to know him.

In addition to all his film credits, my most respectful thoughts go to his strength and leading support of the group, Actors and Others for Animals. Every actor is at the core a private person. I was intrigued by his biological roots to Louisiana and the Chandler family in addition to his adoption by the Holliman family, subsequent transplant to Texas and California, and his ability to deal positively in youth with many personal issues which plague and scar many people today. I not only respect him for his film work, but also for his inner strength which has brought him far in life, but short of the recognition he truly deserves, IMO.

In 1956, he played Elizabeth Taylor and Rock Hudson's son in law in "GIANT" . I met him once in the late 70's when he was doing "Police Woman". He was doing a documentary , or film about the gay lifestyle in L.A. and he interviewed myself and a friend of mine about "STUDIO ONE" and the GAY COMMUNITY SERVICES CENTER. He was a really nice guy. Indeed very well remembered and, in addition to appearing in 'The Rainmaker' and in 'Gunfight at the O.K. Corral', cast in other very memorable movies, from 'Broken Lance' (as Spencer Tracy's youngest son), to playing 'Nestor', best buddy to Forney (Mickey Rooney) who together rescue Grumman F9F jet-flyer Lt. Brubaker (William Holden) from cold Korea waters in 'Bridges at Toko Ri' or Anthony Quinn's son in 'Last Train from Gun Hill' and John Wayne's brother in 'Sons of Katie Elder - all of them, trust me, very much well-worth seeing.

Actually, for whatever reason, Mr. Holliman's haircut in '...Toko-Ri' worked pretty much to his advantage, as when his character took off his sailor's hat and held it in his hands as he appealed for Lt. Brubaker to bail out Forney from whaterver new mess he got himself into.
