First heard this brilliant drummer on a david axelrod lp. It was the best drumming I've ever heard, ' release of an oath ' by the electric prunes. Everything on it fills and funky beats are perfect ! His use of space fascinated me.

Earl was the best and playing with a big band made it a joy to hear him. So much fun! I could tell some stories. When we took a trip to London with Maria Muldaur in the seventies, there were all these fans who swarmed us at the airport and then the hotel. I looked at him and said "Who the f are you?" He laughed and said "I told you, Baby, I''m a star." And he was.

It was Earl Palmer who helped the younger Hal Blaine get his start as a Session Musician! Both had different, but technically excellent styles. RIP guys!

Just came across this. The drummers of yesteryear are so much more soulful than now days.

Earl was the best. He could play anything! That's why he was number one studio call on many lists. RIP. He also could drive a big band. So much fun to hear him.

His influence will never be understood...listen to this PURE drum sound. MAGIC. F Pro tools...the foolishness of today is being so damn ignorant of history...speaking to all the drummers who wankfest and never understood MUSIC before rudiments...hey that's a good title! lol

Phenominal drum sounds! It sounds like I'm standing in the studio right in front of him. That is just a few beautuful vintage mics, an big old vintage mixing desk with huge a few knobs, slluders, faders and real-time fully animate 100% of the audio information recorded on magnetic audio tape. ALL 100% real living & breathing analog. There is no modern digital recording technology that can reproduce this. None. Digital audio recording is essentially a fax machine taking stop motion inanimate snapshots of in motion living & breathing instruments & voices the n throwing away 99.99999999% to infinity of the living audio information.
