The dude knows precisely what he is talking about. I had friends like this growing up. They were really really smart but also really really sensitive and the barrier they put up was just to accommodate their own pains. There's a lot of innocence there, actually. He's joking through conversations because it's real pain he doesn't want to dwell on. His parents were intellectuals (his father, being a Poet Laureate for his native country). He's not about to give you answers because he's sensitive enough to know he doesn't know everything either. He's an incredible poet and has bonkers lyrical talent!
