Anita Pointer and The Pointer Sisters had success in the Country music genre and deserve to be recognized when listing black women charting on the Billboard Country Music chart. Please don't leave them out. This song made it all the way to #2, which I believe made Anita the first black woman to make the Country music top ten, not Beyonce. I love Beyonce but facts are facts.

One of the greatest songs of all time, IMHO. Sad that they are both gone now, Anita at the too-young age of 74 a year ago and Earl at 77 almost 5 years ago. Before he had his long string of #1 hits, he was already a great songwriter. Eternal gratitude to my dear brother Daniel for turning me onto this song. He was always much more into country music than I was. I am, after all, Otis (Redding) Fan1. But he has always shared. My older brother sends us blues and (Portuguese) fado. And I send them Yiddish and soul music. Experiencing different musical genres and cultures in general is good for the soul. I think Earl was making that point by doing this duet with a wonderful African American singer. Love and peace to all.

From the synth-pop inspired "Angel In Disguise", to the rock-flavored "Don't Make It Easy For Me", to the traditional country of "Chance of Lovin' You", to a duet with one of the freakin' Pointer Sisters that even got him on Soul Train... Earl was not afraid to test out a wide variety of audiences with his music. He was the true King of '80s Country that younger generations don't appreciate nearly enough... it's really a shame that he had no real crossover hits, as he could have introduced so many new audiences to the country music genre in the '80s with his eclectic sound.
