This video is so poetic, during the last 30 seconds he goes through 2 stages and goes through depression when the instrumental starts, throughout most of the song he talks about the fake people of his life, most likely venting his anger, right before the instrumental he states “I just want my time and my mind intact, when they both gone, you can’t buy em back” which is bargaining, the third stage of grief, throughout the instrumental he looks more accustomed to it, AKA acceptance, meaning through only a minute and 30 seconds he showed and went through 4 stages, not to mention how there are 5 drummers, each drummer meaning a stage of grief, no one can explain how they feel like Earl can

Being an individual who has spent most of his life in loneliness and depression, with severe anxiety and panic disorders; I always seem to enjoy this 'solace' type of music more, even though all it does is rub salt to the wound in a certain way, I feel like I can easily connect and relate to it more than other kinds of music. This one song in particular has been my favorite of all year, for some reason it sort of calms me down and makes me think trough a lot of stuff happening in my life, it's a perfect song to get high to.

This video is painfully ironic. The way I interpreted it was: he was lonely and down and out. And also surrounded by rats and snakes. He felt paranoid. He finally got the courage to break out his shell when he seen this beautiful chick. He followed her to be disappointed by her and his inner demons. In the end he was left alone again with his only sense of solace, weed. In the end he's surrounded by a band featuring his own self as the opening act to another disappointment. I was going to say from, "Step into the shadows we can talk addiction. When it's harmful where you going and the part of you that know it don't give a fuck" (idk what it's called...bar?) is actually fucking insane. It's possibly the most succinct, yet eloquent way to describe addiction. Barely two sentences, and annnyybodyyy who has struggled with addiction will immediately know what's up.

I'll come back to this album when I'm sad. I don't think I'll be able to enjoy this until I'm in a place similar to where he was at during the making of this. I think the main reason you see the Tyler and Earl split is because Tyler got happier, and Earl got sadder.

Some people are darker than others, and when you're affected by that level of depression (beyond what people call depression because something bad happenned, a harrowing, cyclical darkness that you cannot explain & are too afraid to face) it flares up in times. That's what I think happens when earl puts out tracks like this, and when you sink and let the times when it flares up control you it can lead to entire bodies of work like IDLSIDGO

Dealing with depression, having close friends disassociate with you because you're "too much" to deal with, this song is so comforting. Honestly, despite how bleak this song and the whole album is, it's comforting that pain and depression is valid even if everything seems fine on the outside. This song isn't just "emo rap" it's rap and music for the disillusioned in modern times, essentially a modern Hemingway or Faulkner for the people that feel left behind and lost in the modern times.

I think the video starts with him at party where he let's his mind wander. But he quickly realises that despite being surrounded by all these people and with friends, he feels entirely alone. His emptiness leads him to drugs and chasing after women. Which is why they show the ass and legs walking away but nothing else. The mice that seem to meet up and then go different ways can symbolise many things, including his enemies plotting against him (this could be why he shows two guys meet up in between the scenes with the mice and the snake) or it could be his own conflicting thoughts and paranioa of being under attack (hence the snake on the couch approaching the camera/ mice) that he needs to be distracted from with things like...you guessed it, women. But the girl dives into water that looks like an abyss and comes up looking frightening. Forever caught in a perpetual loop of drug abuse and the desire to escape, he finally realises he is a prisoner of his own mind and because of this he can't trust his own instincts as we saw what happened to the woman in the pool. Leaving us to assume he either can't pursue the things he wants for whatever reason because there will always be this abyss between him and it, or that those things are not worth persuing at all. Then he's left with guys in masks playing instruments. I think these are the walls of his mind and he drowns out his loneliness and sorrow with music as he falls deeper into lunacy since the people playing the instruments look like they may be him in different forms. No longer is the abyss just in front of him, but he becomes engulfed in it as all scenery has completely vanished at This point. This whole thing may just be commentary on how fame has affected his life both psychologicaly and socially and how music has been the only thing allowing him to keep a firm grip on reality as the walls of his mind have been relentlessly reminded him that he is all of those things he sees in the video. This is just my take and opinion though so I may be completely wrong lol.

@@novanebula8004 Thanks I really do appreciate that kind words of advice. And I'm getting better day by day though. It's been many years since I've contemplated it. This year I haven't felt it as much because of the medication I'm on that helps me fight those thoughts and feelings so things can be balanced out properly. Other than that, I haven't done anything self inducing to myself. Nor have I felt self inflicted to self harm or overdose or anything of the above. But I'm slowly getting better. I've had one instance where I felt like overdosing but the desire wasn't there to do it cause I didn't feel like ending it there leaving people who care about me with the same pain I felt if I choose to end my life by swallowing those pills. With today's society it's self provoking to see how many don't take people with depression and actual anxiety seriously. I only did self harm cause I felt I deserved the pain. But now I've learned from it and learning each day. But again thank you and the same goes back to you in return. 💖🦋

I think that image symbolizes the name of the album best. You put all your trust into someone and then they turn out to be a dishonorable, betraying serpent. After it happens you don't like shit, and don't go outside anymore. You're just stuck sitting on the sofa keeping your eyes on the snake at all times so you don't get bit again.
