"Uninspiring by todays standards"? i think it's much more interesting than a lot of 3d-animation that comes out today, I love it!

So funny how the synchronized dancers at the start are a few frames off in their animation so they don't look PERFECTLY synced with each other... but modern game still don't realize you have to do that or it looks goofy as hell.

yes, it's just a short clip from that video release, kinda funny that he's trying to pass it off as some sort of super rare video. I have to wonder why people do stuff like this.

I know that this comment is nearly a decade old but just in case you never found out I would like to add my own conjecture. The Mind's Eye, a collection of various early 3D animations set to music, often gave a list of who made what and from this I was able to find out what many of the companies did and what they used. Surprisingly, many of the animations were created on powerful (for their time) computers running their own custom O.S. and software, more often than not for live broadcasts and text graphics. A couple of universities were in there as well. These were likely passion projects done on the employee's and student's own time using company hardware as there were very few animation studios using CGI and most of the time their efforts and RnD were focused on a per project basis like the next film to use said CGI and thus highly limited in scope. Thus I conclude these eclectic early animations were likely created using custom software, or at least extensions of existing software as a framework, at broadcasting and advertisement companies with a few university efforts in between. I could be wrong though and these were concerted efforts by a studio that wanted to push the envelope and gain exposure for the medium. I will have to do more research.

@@DavionSobek I don't know where you got most that information from, but most of these companies used sun workstations or similar. They might have written their own ad ons or what not, but those computers usually had 3D graphics software built in, so I doubt that they outright wrote their own. Also, the short videos were often used to show off either their talents or the hardware, sometimes they were made as something to show off in their visual portfolios they sent out, and others they were commissioned by the hardware manufacturers or made as art pieces for museum instalations or to be entered in 3D film festival competitions. Your assumptions were rather short sited and far off.
