It’s an incredibly hard sound tempo to distinguishably lay down. I applaud the attempt and we all need more dead sound in our lives. In the 70s, You had Wolf 🐺 and just one of the guitars, which had a very unique sound so pulling that off with that guitar very difficult but please keep playing. Also when you say 70s, what part of the seventies? There were a variety of diff sounds. Dead / Jerry fans are very particular and listen with extreme precision and can call what song and when it was played what month and what concert across the 50+ year history. So work on hovering over a target. This is all constructive Becote ause when you do finally understand , you’ll be grateful that you do. Why you think Mayer joined.? It’s so complex , and he knows he has to play the band and not the song for the most toughest of critics. He set it straight after he earned their hearts quoting Terrapin “to shed light , not to master “. Enjoy the music.

@@augustwest5273 @August West thank you! And no specific year. It's definitely not 100% true to any specific, it's more like my interpretation of a general early 70s garcia tone. Like 72-73. And yes I actually have a wolf copy! Haha. A phred anyway. Here's a video if you'd wish to hear it kzbin.info/www/bejne/l3ybmZuYi76kgaM. Anyway, it can be very complex (dead music). I'm 25 now and have been playing dead music since I was around 13 years old haha. I'm self taught and learn mostly by ear and trial and error. I should be much better than I am having been playing since I was 7, but it's whatever haha. I'll continue to learn and play the deads music forever though! I certainly have my own tones and do my own music, but it's always a lot of fun for me to play dead music and attempt to emulate Jerry's tone for my own enjoyment! Thanks for the view and kind words man! And sorry for the late reply, I only just saw this!

sounds great! def style i like! now if you had to do a basic recipe for this sound, what would it be? in the description you said you are using a boss deluxe reverb pedal. all my strats are SSS so you have me intrigued with the HSS as well. i am guessing to dial into a jerry sound everyone has their own opinions. sweet guitar color as well.

I can't remember if I actually had the boss on or not. But regardless, I can get a very similar tone just plugging straight into the Amp! I have a video explaining how I get the jerry tone with my current set up, but basically to get a basic jerry tone you'll want these things... 1) thick pick. 1.20 up. 2mm if you want to use the same as Jer. I recently just bought some Adamas picks and they're amazing! The same picks Jerry and Trey use(d). I absolutely love them! 2 you'll want a middle pickup. Preferably a single coil. Yes garcia had humbucker in the middle from wolf on, but I do believe it he played with it tapped. I could be wrong for sure, but I think this is correct. Either way the strat you already have will do just fine! Just play in the middle position. Just as I am in the video! 3 I'm using a Vaporizer in a lot of these videos, and it only has a tone knob...no 3 band EQ. And the other Amp I use has no EQ settings at all. So it's been a while since I've had to dial in an Amp haha. But from I can recall, you generally will want to have your mids up higher, lows down, and treble dialed in low to mid range. I'd recommend experimenting with that as a template or jumping off point. The rest is in the playing and the head space! What you're playing, how you're playing it, how you're picking, etc. Good luck to you brother! Hope you can find yourself a good little Jerry tone to have fun with! And also thank you! This was guitar was actually a gift from a coworker! Haha

@RamenNoodlez2582 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the kind words man! As for those chromatic pull offs, you just gotta keep giving em a try I suppose haha. The most important thing about improvisational soloing is to feel more than you think! I wish I could be of more help to folks who ask me questions, but the truth is I'm almost completely self taught by ear. So I like a lot of the vocabulary and ability to communicate how to do things haha. (~):}

@Silas Debroux I was simply saying I lack the vocabulary to explain how I do things. It's the same thing I tell everyone that asks me specifics about playing. Not as a brag, but the opposite actually. Saying I'm not really intelligent when it comes to the technical stuff since I wasn't taught or took the time to learn theory.
