Early Bosch Fuel Injectors - different types +how to remove without damaging. Part 0280150024

This is a detailed video outlining some of the differences between the early Bosch electronic fuel injectors (EFI). The style of Bosch injector featured in this video has part number 0280 150 024 and is taken from a 1974 Mercedes 450SL - Euro spec D Jetronic. The spare parts are sourced from Mr injector in the UK. It always amazes me how much rust is on the vehicles you work on. I am so lucky to live in Arizona USA. The average humidity here in June is only 16% and it rarely rains. Rust is something I rarely see.

Mike it looks like the positive side of the injector is on the left side of the injector so when plugging in the injector the brown or earth wire should be on the right side. One other question would you sell off your 450 parts car the bracket on manifold that holds the wiring harness towards the front of the engine?

Does anyone know if one can mix the various generation injectors in an engine (in case you need to change them and cannot find the right gen parts)? I've got -72 350SL M116 and I'm in the process of going through it. The car hasn't run for some 15 years.

Wow - a 72 SL, that must be one of the first! The simple answer is "no" as different generations of fuel injector may have had different flow rates. Often these injectors can be brought back to life and the flow rates balanced etc by a professional injector cleaner. Let me know what colour your injectors are and what the part number is. Mike

Hi Mike, great stuff again. Thanks. Question on the injectors with pre-clamped metal ferrell(?)/sleeves. Can I replace the hoses on these types as well, by simply prying of that metal sleeve, and replace the hose with hose clamps?
