This is SO cool. I especially love the final stone area for it's mystical vibes, with the candles, floating stone carvings, rayman statues etc. What a shame the final game didn't really have a proper story. I would've loved to explore the more mystical side of rayman's world, in 2D. It's also cool to notice how there wasn't a separate Lum king, instead the lums would gradually start dancing the more and the quicker you caught them, kinda like some sort of a combo mechanic. Also... The biggest loss... THE PLUM!!! 😭😭😭

If this is going to be public at some point, some good things are gonna come out of it. Perhaps a mod that restores the original story and other scrapped elements of Origins or even a new campaign inspired by Origin’s early concept! In other words, an actual prequel as originally planned. It’d be great to do something like this!

Woah, the early builds of Rayman Origins were an obsession of mine, so much got scrapped and changed. Does anyone remember reading The Daily Bubble? When the game was first revealed it seemed to tell more of a story but almost all the plot was removed from the finished game for some reason. I was pretty disappointed with that. The game played and looked fantastic but I missed having a real story that actually tells us something about Rayman's origins. Thank you for sharing this footage. Maybe some day a playable early build can be found.

i grew up with this game, man, legit one of the BEST platformers in the whole world, UBISOFT PLEASE FEED US WE'RE STARVING (that Rayman + Rabbids dlc was fire tho but FR WE STILL DYING FOR A NEW GAME) jokes aside, it's awesome you were able to cover scrapped and beta test rooms for some of the levels of the game, this is awesome to see!

All the scrapped things in this build: - The ability of Rayman to use is hair as a fan - A health system - Some blue portal doors. - A scrapped secret room door 15:48 - Rayman dead animation, being the same from the first game 13:07 - There wasn't a Lump King so instead the event of the red Lumps will be activated collecting a combo of them in a quick time, also, there was a third type of Lum's totally scrapped being the orange Lum's, a transition between the yellow and red ones, and last, the red Lums have a different animation that in the final game. - The cages were more hard to open - The Livingstones (The explorators) have a behavior more similar to the first Rayman, just chilling in the level - The Plum with is same function as in Rayman 1 - As we can see, Teensie wizard was meant to be the second main Teensie instead of Ninja Teensie 7:13 - The photographer with a redesign and the same function that in the first Rayman 4:20 - A water level with floating water, there's nothing like this in the final game, of course there are water levels but not like this 9:40 - What it looks like an unused obstacle 23:42 - A weird wheel object 26:48 - The treasure chest can be seen in a regular level 30:17

Fun fact in an earlier build of the game there wasn't even a Lum counter all the Lums you collect just clump together into a bigger Lum.

"A water level with floating water" that's not what it is. All they did there was a test to see how their water physics work. It's a gamedev so you shouldn't take those as a levels or anything. They might be a base to some, but by no means they are final. Sometimes developers are also making test levels where they test their physics and that's what this floating water section is.

It seems like the original plan for Origins was to be a remake of the first Rayman, with a lot of features like the photograph checkpoint and the exit and end signs being scrapped completely (for the most part). But obviously plans changed and it became a lot different

@@MaeDaGoof well i played rayman origins for years now and it does allow some tricks to get endless lums / a better time on some levels. But yeah in the end nothing extremely big. Quite sad that they didnt leave some stuff like jump double kick

@@Player-df7ny i have also been playing origins for years ever since it came out, 100%ed it many times, and while it can be used to exploit things, they most likely knew and just kept it for whoever figures it out, kinda like a secret move in a way lol

@@MaeDaGoof ah nice, another veteran like me. What i do in the game now is try to get the highest amount of lums in every level and ive gotten a lot of 4 hundreds and some 5 hundreds too. So much stuff that i learned and i also found out that there are different versions of the game with lums, enemies and rooms in different positions, specifically the 3ds version and the psvita version. Some stuff there seems to be from the beta gameplay and that one time they played on stage before the launch of the game, like ground pound taking more time to recover from and seeing a teleport after you break cages. You might wanna try them if you want some new stuff to do, you can use emulators like citra to play them.

@@Player-df7ny I have played almost every version of Origins, i have a 3ds with Origins on it, same for the wii version. One thing that annoys me with the 3ds version is that for some reason the boss rush at the end is really bugged, and trying to go down to the bird mecha boss after beating the plant insta kills you if you just try going down the regular way, i have to glide to the side and squeze though to not die xd
