It is quite possible with much less money put away than required for US retirement to find *Early, Cheap Retirement in Lima Peru!* I was honestly amazed at how extremely nice this city was after I had spent enough time there to thoroughly explore the many different neighborhoods of this lovely city! There are so many hidden gems in this city that you'll need to allow yourself at least a month to really get a feel for what it's truly like. I absolutely LOVE Lima and the food there is second to none! Lima is ranked #1 for cuisine in all of South America and #3 in all the world! At the very least, take the time to visit.. you'll be glad you did!

Hi I am from Ecuador. My country 🇪🇨 is so beautiful, and Peru is beautiful too. I have visited Lima several times and thinking to move there because of business and safety reason. Food is so good, I love peruvian style ceviche anticuchos and pica-rones and chicha color morada

Yes I have a close friend in Ecuador and have visited many times! Both countries have their beauty but as you said, the food in Peru is second to none. Peru is currently ranked #3 in the entire world for cuisine! I found so many delicious things to eat in Peru and I am amazed at how good it is!

Completely agree! Such a beautiful place, especially along the beach, but also in other neighborhoods like Barranco, and the Bosque el Olivar. (olive tree park) Love those areas also! So beautiful!

​You are living an illusion. I lived in Peru 10 years. There are many disadvantages to retiring there. I had the rentista visa, married a Peruana and have a DNI that doesn't expire (no caduca). There are a few nice districts in Lima, but overall it is disorganized and can be a cesspool in many zones. In many cities (including Lima) there are constant power outages and water rationing. I could go on and on.

Lima has abundance of water supply. Big lakes high very up in the highlands. During the rainy season, The Andes is an sponge of water. Lima has several rivers going downward through the mountains. Electricity is produced in excess using several hydroelectric plants in the Andes too. So much electricity that there is a plan to connect Peru with Ecuador for selling them the overproduction of power supply. Lima has abundance of natural-gas going through pipeline from the Jungle. Cars and public buses uses NGV - natural gas vehicle - less contaminant than gasoline. Houses has connection to natural-gas, paying half the price than LPG. Water-treatment plants from sewage waters. Those waters are used for watering public parks and public gardens. Lima has a collection of very beautiful Parks and lately Parques Zonales what are huge parks at the outskirts. Last but not least, Lima has a natural cooling system. A breeze of fresh cold air runs from the vast and cold Pacific Ocean into our houses.

For your next trip could eventually try visiting the family oriented middle-class districts in Lima as Magdalena , Jesus María, San Miguel, Pueblo Libre and Lince. You look super happy ! We are doing something similar, traveling for a few years between Mexico and Argentina. We think in Peru we may like Arequipa. We are cold weather lovers. We are currently living in Nicaragua, and moving to Guatemala in February. We do plan to get to South America and have about 6-8 cities we want to visit, including Arequipa. Who knows, maybe we will visit Lima too. Great video !

You will love it, it's close to the beginning of sumer in Lima, summers are very nice, you will always have a nice fresh breeze, and low humdity. Christmas it is also very nice there, go and tour all the churches and you will see what I mean. I am peruvian and planning go back for my retirement.

Pineapples from the jungle, Cacao in the northern amazon, Bananas in the northern coast, apples in Calango, watermelon in the "norte chico", blueberries across the coast, sparragus in the coast, avocados all over the country , etc. Peru has the biggest wholesale fruit market in the World . I believe you should! I love Lima! In the video I really didn’t talk about it enough but in addition to wonderful weather, the food was absolutely amazing! Lima is ranked the #1 country for food in all of South America and #3 in the world! The food there was DELICIOUS!! I really can’t give it a higher recommendation ❤

It should be hot and humid but they have a cold current (the Humboldt) which goes by the whole country and along the Ecuador coast too. That cold current keeps the climate in Lima moderate.

Is hot and humid but not compared to Florida. The humidity is during winter, I had things in my closet and since we had no A/C in our place, the clothing had mold. We have to open the closet and cabinets doors at night to control the mold. But other than that, is beautiful

Lima is not that hot. During the summer is mid to high 80s. The problem is the humidity, is about 80% Winter is dreary, at times you won't see the sun for over a week. And because of the humidity, your bed would feel damp. Food second to none. fruits are so cheap is almost free. To avoid the humidity you will need to live at least 15-20 miles inland which kinda defeats the purpose of being in Lima.

Really nice informative vid. I live in the US but was born in Lima, and visited earlier this year. I was blown away at the quality and variety of food at every single cafe/restaurant I was in. The service was outstanding. Another point to keep in mind is that unlike here in the states you are expected to tip 15%, this isn't the case in Peru. Yes you tip more on the order of 5% unless you are in a really upscale place.

Lima upper scale districts are very nice and clean, but the towns just outside of them are rough, some resemble overcrowded India neighborhoods with their moto-taxis.

I was surprised the variety and tasteful fresh fruits you can find in Lima. In the USA is hard to find good fruit. Also, if you are a believer Lima is a catholic megacity where you can literally find a church everywhere. Churches are beautiful and well maintained.

It's one thing to visit in summer, another in winter. Winter in Lima means 6 months of grey skies.Without heating (which most homes don't have) you'll freeze. Laundry takes forever to dry because of the humidity. I lived there for 2 years and I like Lima very much - just not in the winter.

Only 50% true. in the Andes of Lima is Chosica or Cieneguilla or Santa Rosa de Quives, or Lunahuana or Calango or any other low-altitude town at about 600 to 1,000 meter over the sea level. They are sunny all year long. Lima is not like London where winter is very cold and sad. In Lima we can enjoy sunny days during winter time just going 30 minutes straight to the East ( Andes )

Yes, indeed. We foreigners will only choose to stay in the most touristy places in any city in the world for safety reasons. Only people looking for trouble would venture to live in the slums and high-crime areas of Los Angeles, New York, or Lima.

Nice video. I was born, raised and live in Lima and all you said is quite true. But.....about the weather, perhaps when you said it was dry you meant it does not rain, but it is certainly quite humid if you talk about relative humidity (70% in summer and 90% and foggy in winter). In La Molina, where you live is better but in Miraflores and other coastal neighbourhoods you don't see the sun from June to September since it is cloudy, and with a soft mist instead of rain that will make you feel lile beeing in the low fifties (°F) even if you are at the low 60°s. But remeber, you are in Lima, Perú and here the imposible becomes true... And you just have to go a bit up into the foothills of the Andes, at a one hour ride, to Cieneguilla or Chaclacayo, and you will need tons of sunblock, an be at a perfectly dry and warm weather arround 75°F

I was living in Asia for a good while and let my US insurance lapse. So I actually paid out of pocket for my surgeries. In the US the same surgery is over $8500 for each eye where I live while in the US. In Peru is was just $2500 for each eye with an excellent surgeon. I would refer all my friends to my surgeon without hesitation ❤

Private health insurance coverage costs 200 dollars a month, and it covers 90%of any treatment or surgery my laser prostate surgery cost 10,000 dls l only paid 1000 dls, much cheaper than here USA

Yes sir, I found it on Airbnb. When I go to a new area I usually stay in a hotel for 3-4 days while I hunt for a longer term rental. This way it gives me a chance to check out different neighborhoods with boots on the ground so to speak and also talk with some of the owners. What I have found is that some owners would rather you pay them directly to avoid Airbnb fees etc. For my 3-4 nights in hotels I was involved directly in the wholesale travel industry for most of my adult life and have access to wholesale rates for those stays! Just let me know if you'd like more information on the wholesale stays. And thank you for the compliment on my video! It was a labor of love.. :)

Happy that you liked the video! When I was there the ratio of US dollars to Peruvian Soles was about 1:4. Now my friend tells me it’s more like 1 US Dollar equals 3.5 Peruvian Soles. That is an advantage to the Peruvian as the US citizens aren’t getting as much value out of the dollar as they were six months ago. That being said, the dollar still goes a very long way in a country like Peru! I love it there!

@@liveourbest2067 Its interesting that you say Asia as I usually spend about 1/2 my year in Thailand, Philippines, Bali, and Vietnam. I love all those countries. I would say Asia is a better place for a single man seeking a female either short term or long term. However if you spend time in Lima you can also meet a nice woman but it's more traditional. In Asia, it's very easy especially in the Philippines and Thailand. Many woman there seek western men. On average the standard of living I would have to say it probably better in Peru. Outside the cities in the Philippines people live in bamboo houses with grass thatched roofs (not kidding). Not everyone, but a huge amount for sure. The humidity is also much higher in Asia so if you like more temperate weather, I would say Peru. It kind of all depends on what you're looking for. If you'l like whenI return to Lima we could meet for a cup of coffee and talk extensively about it. Let me know..🙂

Like all very big cities, there are certain sections that you should not be in after dark. This city has 10 million people. It is a very large city. Most of the areas I’ve been in are completely safe. But there are a couple of neighborhoods that a friend of mine here told me not to go in after dark. So no different than any other big city.

Colombia $1000 per month at least Financial requirements per month you have to renew it for 5 years every year they change the policy if you are rich you can retire everywhere

I looked at PH, but the noise and shaky infrastructure is a no-go for me. Their English is not as fabulous as the male expats say it is. Looked at Ecuador, but the uptick of cartel activity and political assassinations is nada. Peru has political instability, right?

There isn't any cartel activity that I witnessed in Peru. The political upheaval was earlier this year when the president was arrested and jailed for multiple charges of corruption from the attorney general. There were riots and protests that went on for weeks but everything is back to normal now. So now no political problems and everything is fine. I would help if you spoke some Spanish if you're planning on living there. Just sayin.. Whatever you do I wish you the best!

The political instability in Peru is not unstable. Sound weird but it is true. It means our daily life is not affected . Peru has been a very stable country the last decades. This has led a lot of people going from poor class to middle class. The hardworker middless class is the heart of any country
