@@mamabairds I have a lot of shredded chicken recipes. This is one of our favorites. Cranberry-Almond Chicken Salad RECIPE BY SOUTHERN LIVING Ingredients 2/3 cup slivered almonds 3 cups chopped cooked chicken 3/4 cup sweetened dried cranberries or dried cherries 2 celery ribs, diced 1/2 small sweet onion, diced 3/4 cup mayonnaise 1 tablespoon Greek seasoning 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice How to Make It Step 1 Preheat the oven to 350°. Bake almonds in a single layer in a shallow pan 5 to 7 minutes or until lightly toasted and fragrant. Cool completely in a pan on a wire rack (about 15 minutes). Step 2 Stir together almonds, chicken, dried cranberries, and remaining ingredients; serve immediately, or cover and chill for up to 24 hours.

It's awesome being the house the kids like to visit. We were that house a lot of the time. Despite the fact that my mom told the kids that she "did not like kids or dogs " . I think everyone saw through that, but they did behave at our house better than at their own.

I had the neighbor kids help clean up the boys room they helped make a mess of. They were a little surprised, but did it and now they are more careful when they come over! Haha. It's awesome seeing the kids have friends though. It's worth the extra loud for a few hours!

One of our favorite shredded chicken dishes is chicken corn chowder. Sauté 3-4 strips of bacon cut with half an onion till crispy. Add in about three cups chopped potato, can of cream corn, can cream of mushroom, three cups of milk, about a lb of canned or cooked chicken, and salt/pepper to taste. Cook uncovered till boiling then cover and reduce heat to medium/low. Cook about half hour or until potatoes are done. Make sure to stir every few minutes so the bottom doesn’t stick. We double the recipe b/c my family devours it!

Lactose is a milk sugar that breaks down when it's heated. Lactose free products just means the diary has been heated to remove that chemical compound. Loctose free products tend to be sweeter because of this process. Also the chicken washing process is typically only meant/used for freshly butched bone in meats. It removes any fragments and the excess blood which makes the meat have a better taste.

No. They use an enzyme called lactase to remove the lactose. Just heating isn't sufficient.​@@SpringLusk005

Hi Mama Baird 🥰! WOW, you're FULL of ENERGY...must be that "Motor Oil" cafe' 🤣🤣🤣!!! GREAT Recipes. TYFS. P.S. Tip: When cutting anything in a square/rectangular Casserole/Metal or Glass Bakeware/Tin &/or Pan, take the first slice from one of the sides instead of the corners (it makes life easier 🤣🤣🤣). Also works w/pies or Round Bakeware - cut Tic-Tac-Toe shape 😚😚😚 .

That was a great deal on the chicken leg quarters, There are so many ways to use up the shredded chicken... Pot pie, chicken corn chowder, casseroles, chicken salad... many ways. I have to say I wish I could find coffee for $2 a canister.... I too would have stocked up. I am like you in the sense that I honestly don't have a preferred brand of coffee, I openly accept all coffee lol.

love the little cast iron pans you have now you need more so you can make little baby pot pies for the family. last week I made my stock from some rotisserie chicken and the usual vegetables and some more seasoning in my crock pot over night, it came out so dark and rich i was surprised I do make my chicken pot pie with home made pie crust it's sooo good I love to cook so that helps a lot, we had a chicken soup tonight with the leftovers so need to get away from chicken for now, I want to make a mac and cheese next. thanks MamaBairds for a different way to make the pie.

We like chicken pot pie but not the pie crust. So we put the filling in the pan minus the pie crust. We then use biscuit dough to layer on top of the filling. We call it faux chicken pot pie. It has been very popular at the pot lucks.

My mom did the same thing but used bisquick to make a topping. If you get it from a food pantry or on sale puff pastry or canned Cresent rolls are good too.

If you have a kwick trip near you. They have bananas, baking potatoes and large onions for sale .29 cents a lb. You can get up to 10 lbs of each and cheese curds 8oz for 99 cents. This is to let people know to check for sales at convenience stores, too. They also have my favorite coffee creamer. Their bagged milk is sometimes a better deal than other stores.

Yes chicken pie is my favourite,it goes so far feeding everyone.I was never any good at making pastry untill I found a recipe book from 1954 ,spoon 6 to 8 large spoons of flour ,season a little ,then add half fat to flour so three to four spoons of fat ,I mix butter or margarine with lard or shortening so same again half of each to make half fat to flour ,rub in the fat to the flour with your hands or put in food processor untill like bread crumbs texture,then add water little at a time untill it forms a dough .Leave the dough to rest in refrigerator for at least half an hour or more if you can .Cut off one third for top and two thirds for base.Good luck it took me quite a while to be happy with my pastry.❤️👏😀👍

Best to make egg rolls when wrapers are cold. I freeze my wrappers thaw in the fridge, take out a few when I'm ready to roll.. if you have any wrappers left slice into strips, fry, dust with cinnamon sugar, leave some plain for toppings for chow mien, or salads.

Making pie crust in the food processor changed my life. I try to make 4+ at once to save washing up and just freeze the dough in little disks. Chicken pot pie is my FILs favorite thing I make for him.

Btw "Lactose free made with milk" means that the milk has been treated with an enzyme called lactase, which breaks down the lactose (milk sugar) into simpler sugars, making it easier to digest for people with lactose intolerance. I never knew this..lol I had to look it up! 😁

hii i think its a common misconception that washing meat is with water but its actually with lime juice and salt and mainly common in certain cultures like Caribbeans we wash meat but not all the time

I make my own meat pies all the time. To make a good pastry crust, on the back of tender flake lard box is the best recipe making pie crust. The only one I use.

There is lactose free milk (brand name is Lactaid) and it always has a best by date of a month out or more. Lasts so much longer than usual milk and there is no difference in taste.

I have a tiny skillet like that too! One of these first days I'm gonna cook something in it just to say I did🤣I can't pick a favorite chicken dish. I love them all!❤When my kids were growing up, my house was the one all the kids congregated at also. Money was tight but I was always able to make the food stretch enough to feed everyone. I knew that may have been the only meal some of them got to eat that day, so I didn't mind. Now its just me & my husband, and some days I miss those chaotic times. I love your channel by the way☺
